I was reading a previous post about a kid who is applying and skates. What’s the policy on skateboarding at Penn? Do kids get in trouble? I remember seeing bladers grinding ledges on campus. Do cops arrest skaters for destroying property?

When I visited, there were no skating signs all over the place. This is something you need to find out, since with your stats and a legacy you're basically an auto-admit :)

Do not go around grinding on stuff. Those people are annoying.

For transportation, sure.

:(.

d3!ty, there were some nice spots on campus! Tons of great ledges and stairs. I feel so ambivalent about this, though... I have so much respect for Penn, but the skate potential there is so enticing!

Grip it and rip it dude...if you get some stuck up ******* looking down on you for doing what you love, or some Captain Courageous security a$$hole, ignore them. Shred everything that Philly has to offer.

Dude, did you stop by Love Park? When I was up there, I was like "Dad, can we just stop there for a little?" So I got him to pull over on the side of the street, and I just ran around the plaza. SO amazing. Just looking down the fountain gap sends chills down your spine. It was just so cool to actually be standing on a legendary spot you have heard about all your life; plus, there's no spots that even compare to that down where I live in south florida. RIP LOVE.

Another tip: DON'T skate in the bike lanes. Doesn't sound like that would be your scene but there is nothing more annoying than some stupid prick weaving around on a board in a bike lane, especially since they seem to be incapable of picking the right side of the street to use.

I've been told that even tho there are signs, no one really cares that would get you into trouble. The city is building an oh-so-awesome place to skate like right off campus tho.

Here are some designs of it:
http://www.skatenerd.com/skatepark/about/final_1.html
http://www.skatenerd.com/skatepark/about/final_2.html
http://www.skatenerd.com/skatepark/about/final_3.html

Sooo awesome. It's basically love park with ramps and a hint of embarcadero.

It's going to be completed in the spring/summer. So it'll be brand new when we go there. (if we get accepted, anyway)

Skateboarding is banned in a lot of the city tho. I talked to a bunch of skaters there and most told me they'll ticket you at love park ($300!!!) but they dont really care too much otherwise. People were skating City Hall all the time and all the cops did was tell them to leave, no tickets or anything.

But on campus, it seems like everything's waxed so people must be skating there all the time. Further, I saw a bunch of kids skating there, even tho most looked like high school kids rather than Penn kids.

just a whole history on love park... really interesting. theres a really big movement behind it.

but i guess the answer is to build that park you posted- which is frikin sick. its like rob b's skate plaza.

Yeah that park looks amazing.
