How competitive is the ski racing team at Middlebury? Is it a walk-on or limited number of athletes? I am interested in trying out if I get in, but if I don't, is there a club team? Thank you so much.

You need low FIS points to race alpine for Middlebury. You might contact shbartleatmiddlebury.edu to get more info. Steve is the alpine coach. Middlebury races NCAA Division 1. It does not participate in USCSA, which is the next level below for collegiate alpine racing (club racing for some). Googling USCSA will give you more information about schools that have "club" racing.

The Middlebury team just came in 2nd place at the Dartmouth Carnival (beating the likes of UVM and UNH).

In the past two years Middlebury has finished, I believe, as high as #5 nationally among all College Ski teams. To say it is competitive is an understatement. It's like saying Florida is competitive in football.

Is there a club that goes skiing/does outdoor activities? I think I read somewhere that there was, but now I can't find it.

The Middlebury Mountain Club is one of the most active clubs on campus. They organize tons of outdoor trips (hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping, etc.) throughout the academic year.

There's also a Snow Patrol at the Snow Bowl.

Thanks for the link?
Does the Mountain Club do ski trips or is that a different group?

The Outdoors group does do ski trips but once you have met a couple of the people involved you will find out that often groups of kids will organize their own ski trips as well. When I was visiting my daughter last I heard a group of kids were going backcountry skiing and camping out. Sounded like fun to me!
