I was curious to see if anyone knew if there were opportunities for competitive alpine skiing for those students who are not good enough to race in the carnivals. I'm talking about someone who has raced for 4-5 years and will never be a 50 point or lower racer, but certainly would be competitive in the club races that other schools participate in.

Hi -

There is a club team that has started up in the last couple years. It is composed mostly of former racers in the 75-175 point range, along with people who are just getting into competitive (USSA/FIS) races.

They train two or three times a week, and race on the weekends in USCSA races (which are USSA sanctioned), and then other “normal” USSA races. FIS opportunities are there, but a bit harder to come by. I’m pretty active in the group, please PM me if you have any more questions/want to know more about coaching/setting/locations, etc.

Best of luck. There is certainly a scene at D for non-carnival racing. It’s a blast, and you might even get better.
