Skidmore or St. John's College in MD

My son got accepted by Skidmore and St. John’s in Annapolis, MD, among others (Washington College, Ohio Weslyan U. and U of Puget Sound). He is essentially going to pick out of the two, and is thinking about English as his 1st choice major, with economics as a possible second choice.

He is generally quiet, thoughtful and makes new friend kinda one at a time. He is in a boarding school in California now and did board at a new England school for a couple of year.

Would like to hear from your experience or advice - which would be a good fit?

Since St. John’s doesn’t offer majors, how does your son feel about its program in relation to the traditional majors available at Skidmore?
