Is it wise to skip BIO 26? I'm gonna be a bio/chem double major (most likely anyways) - got a 5 on AP Bio, took a really thorough AP course. I know that w/ the BIO 19 credit, u can either take 26 or go onto a 100 level course. Since I dont have any room first semester, I'm postponing taking bio until the spring. I looked through the course description of 26B and we covered most if not all of the stuff on it in our AP class, including the labs which we did at a community college. Whats typically the next class u take, BIO 118? Is skipping 26 ok if Im gonna be applying to med school? Has anyone ever done this b4? Thanks for the input guys.

Bio 26 is required for the biology major, isn't it? Don't you have to take it?

no, I checked on the bio website. To clarify, you can't replace it with just any 100 level course - it has to be an advanced organismal diversity course, to replace BIO 26 which is the intro diversity course. Theres a list of applicable courses on the page which lists the major requirements for the B.S. 140 and 142 I believe are the ones offered in Spring but both seem kinda boring lol - they're both about plants, the first is plant diversity, the latter is plant systematics/evolution so I might just take 26 cuz its prob more interesting.

Oh, I see...Bio 26L can be replaced by Bio 101, 102L, 126L, 140L, 141L, 142L, 143L, 176L, 220L, or 222L. Some of them sound interesting, but I think I might go with Bio 26L for the broad intro.

yeah same here - the cooler ones (i.e. the ones not about plants :)) are offered only at the Marine Lab. I'm still kinda undecided at this point, cuz I dont really wanna repeat stuff that Ive already learned, cuz its so expensive.
