Skipping 15-110 through placement tests?

So I took ap compsci this year, and basically learned nothing. However, I have started to teach myself ruby and intro to compsci stuff, and I think I know enough to pass the placement test. Is it a good choice to skip 15-110 through a placement test and go straight into 15-112? I feel as though I know the information, but not thoroughly enough to do well in more advanced compsci classes. I also don't know any python whatsoever, so going into 15-112 without any sort of background experience might hurt. Thoughts?

I think getting a 5 on AP Comp Sci gives you credit for both 110 and 112 without placements tests, and if you don’t get credit for it, none of them have any pre requisites so you can just take them
And, a LOT of people take 112 without any prior programming experience and still do well it, so both 110 and 112 are doable without anything.

I don’t have any experience in programming but I want to skip 15-110 since honestly, taking it feels like a waste of a semester. How can I do that if i don’t have any programming experience. Should i study the placement exam or something- though that’ll mean learning Java from scratch…

A lot of non-technical majors complain about the same thing since almost any major requires a programming course for graduation, but they still take it.
If you are doing a technical major, then you should start with 15112 (Python one) or yes, take the AP Comp Sci and get a 5.
