Hi guys,

I'm an entering freshman for fall '07. I got A's in the equivalents of math 53/54 this year at my community college, and they are transferrable, but I'm wondering if I will just get demolished if I go straight into upper division math classes in my freshman year without first getting used to the increased rigor in lower level classes. Is it a good idea to just forge ahead? Or should I perhaps retake honors versions of the classes I've already taken? I just fear that I will get creamed by my competition who will have in all likelihood taken more rigorous and in-depth versions of the lower division prereq's.

I am curious about this as well.

I'll BUMP BUMP it up for you

Don't compare a community college class to a math class at Berkeley. I wouldn't skip anything other than Math 1A. Start out at Math 1B.

It depends on how good you are at math. I know several people who entered Math 110 (generally considered the easiest of the upper divs) without any problems. Most people usually take the transition to upper div math class if they plan on doing upper divs.

You're still young, so I'd recommend doing an honours lower div course AND the transition class in the same semester to see how it is. You could always drop one or the other. Take it easy for now.
