So I am just wondering whether it is a good idea to skip the state provided ACT, the reason being that it does not come with the writing portion, so I could not use it toward schools that require writing but do not superscore. Ultimately, the only places I might use it are at my safeties. Does anyone have an opinion, or is anyone else skipping their state's test?

It’s a graduation requirement in some of the states that have it.

I’d suggest taking it anyway, then taking a second one with the writing portion at one of the next few test dates. It’ll be good practice and will help you do better on the one that will really count for you.

Well, I asked a guidance counselor and she seemed rather apathetic; she just said that if I did not show up for the test day, nothing bad would happen.

I have taken it once before without practice, and got a 32+9 writing. I got the red book and was planning on prepping a bunch for the April 9th date.

I just didn’t know if there was a good reason to avoid taking this test, or a good reason to make sure to take it. I guess some extra practice probably wouldn’t hurt. Thanks for the responses!
