People in high school who don't know how to study will fail in college. Sure, in high school it is possible to get away with great grades without hardly any studying at all, but alas you don't know everything in high school and can't expect that same knowledge to carry you through college.

It is considered cool to not study and ace everything, so everyone studies their butts off and says they didn't.

I know this girl who asks me math questions and crap. And then I've heard her tell people she doesn't study at all. I see her in the other math room early in the morning receiving tutoring.

ok... well...i was actually referring to non-closet studier, amazing people.

I wish I had eidetic imagery...

I mean, there are some classes where you either need to be exceptional, or you're going to have to study, like ap chem. Really, how many of us could get good grades in that class without studying?

I got A's without studying throughout school. I started studying and now I get higher A's! Of course when I say study I mean 15 minutes total for my classes in my first period study hall. Usually just doing the homework is enough studying for me, and of course thats what usually takes place during that 15 minutes.

It is possible to get relatively good grades in school with little studying, as long as you take good notes, pay attention in class, and do the homework. Yes, there are some classes that require a little extra effort, but I think that overall, you can get by just studying 5 minutes before a class, with the info. fresh in your memory. I have to study for chemistry though. I don't do so great in that class if I don't.

asians (call me racist, it's a fact) are VERY opposed to answering "i've finished reading" or "I left only 2 more chapters". they will almost ALWAYS say, "haven't started studying AT ALL" or "started only 1 chapter", even when it's 3 days before a big exam.

^lovin' it :D totally agreeable, tho i'm azn

i donno how to quote...someone send me a mssge on dat pls :]

raises hand
I've become a real dirtbag and refuse to do my homework. Cramming doesn't help anymore.

for me there are classes that are jokes. i dont study at ALL and still manage A+. for example: econ, english, ap stats, and computer design. but then classes like ap physics even if i study i dont do well at ALL. but then there is ap calc where if u pay attention and do homework then its easy. thus some classes its either u get it or u dont. although, its ironic how calc and physics are favorite classes even though i do worst in them

I agree with many of the people here. People like that are closet studiers most of the time.

People obviously do this so others can think HIGHLY of them... I know many kids who are like that... a lot of the kids who say that don't even have that laid-back demeanor to them which I often imagine slackers having.

I used to be able to get away with little studying, but I'm not gonna lie.... this year I'm taking loads of AP's and I actually have to study.

The AP Bio test where you need to know absolutely everything about Biochemistry to get a 100 showed this very well..... :( .

I say... if you really wanna show off as a smart slacker: Do bad at school and "magically" get a near-perfect or perfect score on the SAT's. Kinda ridiculous (because even there studying is involved), but I think that would be a better way to prove oneself as a slacker. :).

I got a 3 on the AP US History test without studying! I'll admit that if I had actually studied I would have gotten much better, but honestly I almost asked for a refund before the test. I was such a slacker that I just knew there was no way I could get away with it on an AP test. Well I was wrong heh. I still always wonder what I could've gotten had I studied/read the chapters in my book.

i dont understand closet studiers. how is it 'cool' to not study? i wish i was a closet studier, i could use some of their work eithic. theres this one kid in my school, good guy and all, but sooo annoying. all he does is talk about how he didnt study for any tests. he will literally come up to me, and start conversations about how he has three tests today and hasnt done any hw, or paid attention in class or anything, and how he's screwed. then, he will (magically) get 100's on all those tests. now, these are not some math or chem tests where its all about concepts. we are talking english and history, where this guy, supposedly having not studied, can recall some random thing the teacher said and put it on the test. its redic. furthermore, this dude gets b's in math classes (where thinking is involved more than in SS and english) << that seals the deal on closet studiers

what does it matter if you study?? i respect you for it?!?!?!?!

tennisdude: It's all about impressions that you make on others. At my old school, it was very easy to crush others, and make them believe everything that came out of your mouth. In today's world, studying equates to higher scores generally. Thus, if you don't study, and score high, either you are smart, or cheating(or lucky guesser).

yea in past years i never studied but this year in ap bio i realized that i have 2 study for that class or i will fail... problem is i didnt know how to study, luckily im picking up on it ok and i think ill b ready 4 college.... also b/c i changed schools 4 my senior year (divorce) i really dont have much to do except think about how much better my old school was and actually get work done .... college please come quickly!!!!!

What I hate is when people try to act like a slacker genius when all they are is a stupid slacker. "Oh I could be val if I really wanted to, I could get all A's, but I don't feel like it, etc". Right.

i hate those people too legendofmax. If you could get straight A's, been val, etc, if you wanted to, but didn't, then you are just worthless.

these closet studiers sound like little punks

With the exception of classes like AP Physics where the only way to learn the material is through practice, I never spend more than 45 minutes studying for a test (usually more like 10-15 minutes), and I usually make A's. I just take really good notes in class, which helps me grasp the important concepts. I know this will hurt me in college, though, because I honestly don't know how to study. :(

i'm asian and whenever i study last minute (like the day/night before) i always end up with a B. but i know PLENTY of other asians who study a lot and not do well, and also asians who study very little and do extremely well (straight As). it depends on the person and banedon is being VERY ignorant for generalizing all asians.

and when people say "i haven't even started studying..." they're usually telling the truth. if you ask, of course they're going to give you an answer.

and oh yea...i didn't study at ALL until my junior year. and i managed straight As in my sophomore year, yet i got almost straight Bs in my junior year. funny eh? LOL it was so hard for me because i had so much issues with everything...sigh. i wish i could back in time.
