Slacker Kids.....

Slacker kids as in those kids who really don't study at all and do well on EVERYTHING....

I mean I just don't get it sometimes. I work hard in school and do fairly well on tests and then there are those kids who just score high all the time with no preparation.

closet studiers....

Yeah. Some kids like to lie. You can generally tell exceptional kids right off the bat. If you have any doubt, they're probably a closet studier.

teacher's friggin pets...that's what they are, my friend :]

Sometimes they are exceptional. Most of the time, they are closet studiers. Oh, and people will do this for impressions they make on others, which is hugely important in a world where how others judge you determine's your success.

they look like they don't study, but try living with them.

some people are just good test-takers. i don't think i ever really studied until my junior year.. i just didn't know how and wasn't able to focus.. and i managed to get b's and even some a's without studying at all. (wouldn't reccommend it of course, now that i do study i get more a's!)

haha... i used to cram like crazy a couple of days before the test until sophomore year while slacking throughout the year and still get top grades! but... now i only get good grades in some and mediocre in others :(

go away you closet studier. :D

Most are closet studiers. Sometimes tho its legit. I got people really mad last year in AP English. Most of our grades consisted of timed multiple choice packets and essays. To prepare, the teacher would lecture on strategies, assign readings on strategies and have us conduct group discussion. I slept during class, never did the readings, aced the class, got a 5 on the AP test. I was just a better writer than most people in the class, and they just didn't understand that a textbook can't teach you how to write effectively. You ahve to like to do it, you have to have a strong vocabulary, you have to make connections, and its good if you know some philosophy.

but i've SO many times lied to friends when they ask me "have you studied for the test?" i just say "i've read upto this chapter" or sth like tht when in fact i've barely begun studying. serious. i know if i told the truth, my frens wouldn't believe me or i'd be called a 'closet studier' or sth! so i just pretend to have studied. and the night before the test, i study like crazy.. lol

asians (call me racist, it's a fact) are VERY opposed to answering "i've finished reading" or "I left only 2 more chapters". they will almost ALWAYS say, "haven't started studying AT ALL" or "started only 1 chapter", even when it's 3 days before a big exam.

i utterly despise that. you guys know the reason? by saying "i havent' started", they bought some sort of insurance against their performances. if they didn't do well, it's because they "haven't started". if they DID do well, they get to enjoy the admiration from ignorant people who will say, "my god, this guy is so smart! he haven't started and yet he does so well!"

i hate these kind of ... um ... i don't know any term that's suitable to describe them.

photographic memory.

btw aaron56, i'm not referring to you. it's only because your post reminds me of these people.

ok banedon17.. i know wut u mean

but tht's exactly the reason why i can't be honest. if i say i haven't studied.. ppl be like.. "yea rite!" so i don't ask the question of others and if sb asks... "i've a couple of chapters remainin, tht's all."

but i'm not saying i don't study at all! i just like to study everything last minute... i can't get myself motivated enough to study even a few days before the test! pathetic!

and btw, my finals are goin on right now :(

Yeah...I study last minute, too and I'm Asian and SOMEtimes I get good grades, but definitely not in chemistry, which I think requires long-time studying.

But that is a good point, banedon17. I don't think it's only Asians who do it, though. Or even pre-dominantly ONLY them. It's those smarmy smarties, who want to look impressive...

"It's cool to never study"

"Even cooler to ace the test"

aaron56 - G'luck with your finals. Break a leg, eh?

I hate it when people say that they haven't studied and they study like 27 hours a day.

I guess i might be called one of those 'slacker kids' because i barely do anything in school. I take notes when we HAVE to take notes.. and I usually don't listen to the teacher, i just talk to someone or daydream or buzz out.

And people get extremely frustrated when I get my good grades (like, as if i dont deserve it or somthing). But the thing is, i tell them that I study at home! I'm honest and i'm just like, "yeah I started studying like 2.5 months before the exams. That's how I got my grades. I friggin deserve them biatch"

I'm not like those phony weirdos who lie all the time: "nah i don't study at all!!! I don't know how I get my A's!!" And they are always ALWAYS studying furiously at home.

hypocrites they are.

haha good one jane. :) that's the funniest line i heard today.

I don't study, with the exception of maybe a few tests a year. Even most midterms and final exams I don't study for. The extent of any studying I do is reading over notes the class before I have a quiz or test. But, I'm not exactly a terrific student. I have a 3.6UW GPA. I am not a closet studier...I wish I was...I just don't have the concentration to study. It's soo boring! Doing math problems or writing an essay I can handle, but going over something I've already done is just unbearable for me.

i guess i don study throughout the year, and when it comes to the crucial point i just put in a little more effort. my GCE O Level results (im under a brit system) came in pretty satisfactory. (: (:
