i definitely do. this one kid got a 33 on his act, and a .8 gpa. hahah he wins.

Yup, and he's valedictorian. He never studies, expect for maybe like one minute for the final exams, does his homework in class WHILE the teacher is collecting it, and hangs out every single weekend with his friends. He also got a perfect SAT score and he only studied the NIGHT before the test.

yep..
1) ranked first in the class
2) got a 2390 on his SAT's the first time he took them
3) he's two years younger than the rest of us cause he skipped 2 grades
4) He's always online playing video games or just watching videos on peekvid or youtube.

He never does any work or study's at all yet he is still a genius.

I just realized when writing this that you meant kids who are very smart but don't do any work in school. Since I did finish writing all of it though, I am going to post it anyway.

LMFAO.

There are kids like that in my school, but they usually procrastinate and do well, instead of procrastinating and doing poorly.

....I refuse to do homework until the day it's due, don't really get around to doing half of it, and still managed to get an unweighted 95.6 average at the end of my junior year. I refuse to study for standardized tests or just tests in general, and got a 2320 on the SAT (one sitting, because I also refuse to take that thing ever again).

Bottom line...I'm lazy.

cause the kids like that usually don't do very well, at least in my school, but i think if they studied even the minute before the test they would. i think the bottom line is, they just don't care whether they do well, so most of the time they dont' even show up to class.

will kids like the ones everybody's describing maintain the same level of suceess in college though? i mean, GPA is taken into greater consideration than SAT scores when it comes to college apps and stuff

well, obvi. the guy who got a .8 gpa isn't going anywhere very good, i think he went to uw whitewater or osmething, but then transfered to madison, so now's he's doing fine for himself.

in college, i think, the more independently you can be (like these guys), the more successful. which kind of makes me mad.

eh...that was me until this year when i decided a higher gpa would be nice

yeah, those pple are lucky, i study my butt off and end up with mediocre-not so good grades and scores :(

Yeah, he was a NMSF and made USAMO but had to go to the local state university.

I hate kids like that... I have heard of them, but nobody I know is like that since even the guy who has 800's on all the SATII's he's taken and a 2400 on the SAT, still studies diligently.

My class (of '08) is known for being smart worry worts that don't care about anything but grades, while the class of '09 (which includes the kid above) is known for having a few extremely, extremely smart people that study hard and do really well

Bottom line, I have heard of these people but never actually met one

Wow...that's EXACTLY the way it is at my school.

yup, i know some. you'd peg them as slackers/stoners until you get into a conversation with them about philosophy.

The naturally smartest kid in our school is one of my best friends. He does just the bare minimum but can score high 90's on an AP Chemistry test the rest of our class barely hits 50. That class consists of most of the top 10% (which both he and I are the few that are not in the top 10%) and he makes it seem easy (its hard for me though). This includes our Valedvictorian (who he is dating), and the class ranks of 2, 4,5,6,7,8, 11,12, and 13. (We only have a 168 students so 1-16 are top 10%).

we have one in my ap chem...he naver(i mean naver ever) does his homeworks but yet he has the highest test score...
with only 3 test that we tooke he managed to get a c...

I know a friend who is really smart. But he has a very weird sleep pattern. He's awake at night and often sleep in class and play video games instead of doing his english hw. Yet, he scored a 2300 on his first SAT without any prior preparation and was a semifinalist in the PSAT, effortlessly so. Ah well. Some people like him are just very unique.

guy in my high school class junior year. he was rated dead last in GPA, but got a 2300 on his SAT w/o any prep.

My best friend is an incredibly smart slacker...for example, he doesn't do homework, doesn't study, just plays video games and stuff (people might think he studies but he so doesn't) and gets like 98's-100's...

i am so glad that our school does not rank cuz out of 900 students, lotz of pple will be at a disvantage
