I'll admit, im one of them. I don't know why. But for some reason, I have this desire to want to go into all my test, without studying, get an A, and say "wow that was so easy, and I didn't even have to study." Maybe it's like showing off, I don't know. It's just that there's tons of this, and who knows why?

Many people I know pretend they're super cool and say they didn't even study to get the A. But it's obvious they did. It's just the image they want to present.

i'm the type who needs to exert some effort (but not a whole lot) and then do really well. i supposed it'd be better if i didn't have to do anything at all, but if that were the case, i'd try for a more challenging program if there was one available. truthfully, i'm happy how i am. i'm not really jealous of those who get everything in a snap.

sometimes, it is possible to not have studied but get an A cos u remembered the concept and knew how to apply but ya itz very rare...
i also get ****ed when ppl lie... lots of us procratinate and cram last min and still do well but atleast we do study....

I was one of those jerks in HS. In history or science or anything that involves just remembering things I rarely missed a question. I never took notes; I just sat there and payed attention to class so I knew the answers when the time came around.

People hated me for it - I was even accused of cheating at one point (by my HS valedictorian no less).

Then, in things like math - my do no homework, take no notes, too-cool-to-care thing got me an F in sophomore trig ;)

Closet studier.

'closet mugger' as we like to brand them in singapore....... :D

There really are kids that do not need to study. My son is one of them and he does not do it to act cool. He has a great memory - hears or reads something once and can remember it. A lot of the tests at his high school are merely regurgitation of what is done in class so he is not challenged at all. He does his homework on the bus ride home, comes home, watches TV, plays on the computer, reads. He studied 30 minutes for his AP History midterm and got a 99. My daughter is the exact opposite - she is doing homework all of the time.

I'm on of these people. When I listen to a concept, I learn it right away and never review. Then, just before any tests/exams, I quickly glance over my notes to refresh my memory, but I never do any serious studying. And I always get hgih 90's!

I was one of those people in HS and did very well ... and it's hard to argue I had to study since I got As in almost any class in which I paid attention.

And then I went to a tough college and got absolutely smoked (including some D-, D, D+, C- type grades) ... I then learned to study and be disciplined ... this was absolutely among the best things that ever happened to me ... and why I advocate kids going to the toughest school they like at which they think they will do fine academically (Bs or better).

Just remember the never-studying business will end with high school. No matter what. You may not have to study as much in college (there are those gifted people but they are few and far between) but you won't ever be able to say, "I didn't study." (or if/when you actually do, you're pretty screwed). In high school I would just read stuff over for english & history and get A's. I never studied for math EVER. My policy was that either you know it or you don't. Yeah know I know how to study (math was a weird one to work out the right method) and I feel it has helped me retain things so much better. As for science that might have been an area I studied. I don't remember. I might have studied chemistry b/c I liked it (then again I am a chemE for a reason so that makes sense).

I admit now at the end of my highschool career yes I did not study nearly enough, but at the same time in some classes I surpassed others by not studying. In history and the sciences I can get A's with little studying, people think I sit at home and study but I don't I actually pay attention unlike them. Same with english, sometimes spanish. Math on the other hand I have to study and I never act like I don't no one does, because you have to.

ok...if you lie about what grades you make and about not studying...you seriously have some self conciousness issues that need to be dealt with

I procrastinate... but I study... but then my grades aren't all that great, so nothing to be proud of really.

I never study for math or science, ever. I also don't study for English (weird considering the other two subjects). I've never quite understood why other people study so much for them, because to me once I've learned the material it becomes a skill I can use and don't have to study. This is not the case in social studies classes though. I have to study (well, actually cram the entire day of the test) for those classes. I think it's just a difference in the way people learn or something.

Just work efficiently and understand what's happening at school.. and unless you have to memorize anything (which is rare), you won't have to study.

I managed to get through High School with a 3.2 GPA and never really do much studying... Right now I'm still at a CC (starting at UCLA in the fall) and let me tell you, I spend a lot of time studying. I've had a few classes where it'd possible to never go to the lectures and still pull an A in the class. I'm in a Intro Cinema class (Fine Are requirement) and of the 30 people in that class only like 8 of us are currently passing. It's because nearly all the info for the tests come from the book.

i find that for most things either i don't need to study or its not worth it to me and i still end up doing well. and i feel bad about ppl who study and do well...but i dunno...i was also "one of the those jerks"

however...when i do study...i always admit it...in fact i am quite proud of whenever i can make myself unlazy enough 2 study. why should it be a bad thing to "study for a test"...that's whati don't understand...

itz not 'bad' but insecure ppl say that perhaps to appear smart n cool, like 'hey look! i did nto study and still did well!!'

well for most of us there seem to be certain subjects or topics where we dun have to study n still ace while other topics where we have to work hard to do well...
