slacking off

how badly do you think i can slack off for the rest of the year now that i was accepted ED. my friend who is going to swarthmore says ~1 GPA point as pushing it. anyone have any info on this?

i called and they said to simply maintain 2.0.

boxcarton, seriously? That doesn't sound right...

2.0. hmmm..... I dont know. that seems extremely low. did they really tell you that?

All I can do is quote the letter I received from JHU in May of 1972 when I had slacked off significantly after receiving my admittance (and yes, I do remember it by heart some 30+ years later):

"Since you have been accepted contingent upon continued academic success, please contact this office immediately concerning your third quarter grades."

I don't recommend slacking off.

ok no offence 1972 and 2004 are different. Dude get bs or cs in all your classes, cant you do that?>

"ok no offence 1972 and 2004 are different. Dude get bs or cs in all your classes, cant you do that?"

This attitude is why, every year, students get their admission revoked. Last year our valedictorian (1600 SAT) had his admission to UNC (in-state) revoked after he got B's in all his classes. He normally got A's in his classes, and UNC realized he "slacked off." You've worked for twelve and a half years...Why mess it up now? Don't slack off. If you absolutely feel you must, DO NOT drop more 0.25-0.4 unweighted.

I would actually like to know JHU's official policy, in writing if possible (ie on their website).
I'm not planning to slack off.

you wont believe what they say on phone?

mootmom, what kind of grades did you get? and what ended up happening?

haha, I have to agree with nomad. that was 32 years ago...that is a big difference, come on. anyways, I still wouldn't recommend that you slackoff. let's say you were waitlisted and still plan to go if you are given a spot in July. i was told they'd probably want to see your 2nd semester grades, sooo...don't slack off! besides, most teachers know seniors slackoff in general, especially towards the end. I for one prolly will slackoff a little but it might be balanced by the fact my classes won't be as hard grade-wise b/c 2nd semester is primarily for getting ready for IB exams in May.

seriously those Ib tests are going to be a pain in the butt
