OK so I need help getting my sleep schedule back in sync. I am now staying up most nights and sleeping through out the days. Somehow I still managed to get a 3.81 this Spring/Summer semester. Now that classes are out for a couple of weeks and I'm looking for a job I want to be able to close my eyes at 10pm and get in a good 8 hrs. I try everything... tea, complete darkness, nothing works. Help! (I'm not interested in any type of pills, sorry.)

trying getting up at a reasonable hour regardless of what time you went to bed. Set the alarm for 8am and get up. Eventually you should be able to turn things around.

Try getting more exercise; absolutely exhaust yourself one day, it may not be smart from a training standpoint, but it’ll definitely make sleep easier that night.

we must be the same person. this last week, i’ve been sleeping at 6 am and waking up at like 3pm. nothing i do seems to be working and it’s really messing with me lol

Try pulling an all-nighter and just go to sleep at like 6pm. You’ll wake up reaaally early the following morning, but you can gradually go to bed later and wake up later until you are on the correct sleeping schedule.

Hurley is right. You have to move your clock forward, not back. In other words, don’t try to go to bed earlier to reset your clock, you have to go to bed later. If you’ve been going to bed at 6am and sleeping til 3, you have to stay up til 6pm and sleep 8 or 9 hours then GET UP. The next night go to bed at 9 or 10 pm and get up in 8 or 9 hours. After that, you’re home free. The best thing to do is get up the same time every day (+ or - 2 hours) seven days a week.

People who work graveyard shifts actually have a shortened lifespan. I think the most damaging thing is when they try to stay up “regular hours” on their days off- to be with their families or whatever. Do yourself a favor and get enough sleep.

My current sleep schedule is 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM. All I have to do to fix it is cut my sleep hours short one day (by half usually works), and then I’ll go to sleep earlier the next day. That’s pretty much what I do to get back in sync with school hours.

I have insomnia and I have trouble falling asleep as it so to keep my sleeping schedule somewhat on track I take over the counter melatonin which is a natural sleep aid and I go to bed at 11 the latest so I can get up in time for my 8am.

I was going to bed at 6-7am for weeks. Last Friday I pulled an all-nighter, took some short naps during the day, and went to bed at 10:30. I’ve been keeping it to bed before midnight since then.

I have insomnia, too, and melatonin worked for a while, but now it doesn’t. It should be fine for the OP to use occasionally. It’s a pill but it’s just a synthetic version of our body’s natural sleep hormone. Take the 3 mg pills. Just one, an hour before you want to go to bed. Do it once and you should be back on track.

what 2bizee is the way i’ve dealt with my sleep schedule. this happens to me a lot. it’s just a matter of going to sleep as ‘late’ as you can (by that i mean going to sleep at around 8pm when you’re used to going to sleep at 1pm). it makes a huge difference. it takes about 2-3 days to get your sleep schedule back on track. there is no need to take pills.

From a recent Harvard Medical School study: [How to Naturally Reset Your Sleep Cycle In One Night](http://www.wisebread.com/how-to-naturally-reset-your-sleep-cycle-overnight).

I had the same problem, going to be at 4/5 AM waking up at 1/2 PM this summer because I only worked evenings. I just got to England though for the semester, which meant my schedule was actually about 12 hours off of what I wanted it to be so I just sleep deprived myself for a couple days, made myself stay up, and voila back on track.

What type of tea are you drinking? Some teas have caffeine in it. My favorite for getting to sleep is Sleepytime tea by Celestial Seasonings, try that.

Drink a few glasses of wine an hour before bed.
