Sleeping in at UCLA

Do a lot of students sleep in at UCLA and take
mostly later classes?

My friend was joking and said even though it is a school full
of geniuses, they still probably sleep really late. :)

the preferred class times start at 10 or 11 (judging by the increased volume of people on bruinwalk). obviously some people, like my roomies, like their days to start early and end early. i like later days.
first quarter i didn't have a class before noon (well ok i did, but the lectures were posted online so i never went!)
my earliest class has been 9am. earliest possible is 8 but that's... rough ;)

it depends entirely on your major, your course selection, how much work you have, etc. it varies a lot by quarter.

i refused to take anything earlier than 9, but preferred 930 or later classes. south campus majors tend to have classes much earlier though.

i think my 11 am classes are early =/

i have an 8am class this quarter. i missed SO MANY lectures. and was late to nearly all the ones i did goto. and fell asleep for ~half of the lecture.

im not a morning person. :p

dude. i had a NINE oclock class this quarter. i don't think i went to half of the lectures. maybe even 3/4s.

but its ok because today we had the quiz, which is based entirely on lecture material. and even with barely showing up and not reading at all and barely paying attention when i was there, i nailed it 100% and was one of the first to turn it in.

psh who needs to go to class.

North Campus :)

lololol.

no comment.

I am a new transfer. How do we classify North/ South campus?
My major is pre business econ
so where are the econ and accounting class usually at?

South campus tends to be science/math/engineering and north tends to be everything else

since im not down with the whole college sleep deprivation thing (i like at least 7 hours, preferably 8), i try at all costs to not have classes before noon.

first quarter i had tons of early classes, was sleep deprived.
second quarter i had an 930 on t/r, and i went half the time
this quarter no class before noon, things are good.

inevtiably i will have to have earlier classes, so my new goal is not before 11. ok, maybe 10.

lol you know there's going to be a quarter when you absolutely need a class and its at 9.

tis inevitable :P

yeah i might have to go to bed at like 11 then. then i would need an roommate who goes to bed early too. fat chance? its possible, but yeah, fat chance.

I had a 8:30am class my very first quarter.
Let me tell you, I did not end up going to many lectures! haha.
It is definitely not for everyone...

my winter quarter, I had 8am lectures 3 times a week + an 8am 2 hour discussion... the lectures were bearable, but I hate all discussions with a passion. I went to like.. 95% of my classes too. Needless to say, I was near dead at the end of the quarter. Having 8am once or twice a week is ok, but 4 times a week is suicide. I guess I'm kinda used to early classes cuz I had 7:30am classes everyday in high school. and yea, I like to start early and end my day at lunchtime :) I found out my perfect time is 10am.... not too early and not too late. This quarter I have 10am across, and I almost never had trouble waking up for them.

For me, north campus = BS-able classes and TA <3 would = good grade, and south campus = classes where you actually have to know **** and BSing won't get you anywhere. According to me, biz econ counts as south campus... but according to everyone else it's north.

sofakingwangsta,

Try BSing your way through an econ class. I DARE you.

Or, better yet, try BSing your way through some anthro classes. Trust me.

all north campus classes are definitely not bsable. the only reason i didnt stress about that class more than i did was because:

A- ive had the teacher before and knew how to guage what the quiz would be like (which was admittedly stupid easy), and
B- im graduating and kind of don't really care. at all. about any of it.

i don't advocate trying to bs like that through any class unless the circumstance resembles one or both of the above.

BSing anthro?
been there done that, it's called anthro 7 ;)
ok so it was less BSing and more, never going to class, watching lectures online at the last minute, skipping through half the lecture because it was so slow/boring/repetitive, and acing the midterm and the final.
i hardly ever went to discussion either, turned in maybe 2/3 of my hw.
still got an A :)

hey, I said I consider biz econ south campus... I'm in that major, I take econ classes, I know.

biz econ is not a south campus major
