Okay, so I took the March 2009 SAT's and when I got my scores back, I was really happy! They were:

Critical Reading -- 670
Math -- 790
Writing -- 680

TOTAL -- 2140

But, after getting some feedback on the scores, I found out that colleges don't really like lopsided scores like mine. Should I retake for colleges like .... Cornell, SUNY Geneseo, URoch, Williams, BC, Brandeis etc?? Thanks in advance =)

Those are great scores! In fact, I received the exact same total score with a 710 math, 710 critical reading, and 720 writing. Anyways, I have heard many different answers on whether colleges like to see level or lopsided scores. Some argue that when a college sees you in one area (for you it would be math) they treat it better than if all the scores are very similar. On the other hand, I’ve heard that by the time the “selection committee” decides who they are going to admit/deny, they only have your Superscore, meaning that they would not know your individual sections. Personally, I think your scores are good enough for Cornell, Geneseo etc. (those are the schools that I am looking at as well) and that you shouldn’t worry. If anything you could take the ACT once just to see how well you do. Congrats on your scores :]

Thanks a lot to the both of you! I have always just felt like that scores where one subscore is so much higher than the other is not too good of a thing, but thanks! I took the April ACT and if I do better on the ACTs, I may just submit them. I am so excited that I only had to take them once each! Now… only one more SAT II in June then doneeee =)
