slight downward trend = how bad?

Is a slight downward trend bad?

mine
9th: Almost straight A's, few B+'s
10th: Less A's with a few more B+'s
11th: B+'s, few B's, very few A's

My school's scale is 94-100 = A, 90-93 = B+, ...

My school doesn't weight much. .5 added to an AP class grade if you pass the class. Nothing for honors. I've been taking the hardest classes available except that I didn't take honors history 9th and 10th because I didn't care much for history, and it would'nt have helped my gpa. I've taken 3 aps so far, 2 were the hardest offered at my school (USHist, and Chem) I think my GC will mention taht in her rec.

my gpa is 3.70 weighted, 3.63 unweighted.

Is this bad?

Where do you plan on applying?

I really want to get into UVa. I'm also applying to Cornell, Tufts, William and Mary, James Madison Unversity, and VATech.

your gpa is still good, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, but the downward trend will hurt you (though probably not much)

I think it's alright and natural

Just make sure you don't continue a downward trend during your senior year...colleges will ask for midyear grades.

You can't change the past so don't dwell on it. Focus on doing well this Fall, and preparing a strong application.

Meh.

Senior year grades don't really matter to many colleges (like Cornell, I believe).

This whole "upward trend" "downward trend" doesn't really matter much. Just that sophomore/junior year grades are more important than freshman/senior grades. What the colleges really care about is those B's you got. That's what hurts you. Whether it was sophomore year or junior year doesn't really matter.

So...good luck. :)
