Slightly regretting my Ivy ED acceptance... will this feeling pass?

I see this thread as a mess of self-deprecation.

You don't need to feel insecure about yourself.

The members of the UPenn admissions committee would not have offered you an acceptance if they didn't believe that you were capable of succeeding and making the most out of the Penn experience.

That being said, you can work as hard as you want. College is a time of independent learning and growth. You're in control of your life now.

UPenn is a great school, Philly is an amazing city, and you're an accomplished person. No worries.

HarrietTubman -- self deprecation is quite normal when one is contemplating competing (as many see it) alongside students who are as smart or smarter than oneself for the first time :)

Hey, sorry if this thread came off as a "mess of self-deprecation" or a cry for attention or anything. I'm really just genuinely wondering whether this is a typical emotion, and reading over the original post, I can agree that it is kind of sappy. I'm in the process of kicking myself in the ass and gearing up for Penn; I'll be fine. Another thanks for all the encouraging replies, and thanks for all of the critical replies as well because it helps to be able to see myself in a different light.

If I were you the first thing I would do is find a few people who are attending UPenn next year; down-to-earth, nice people. It would make your decision a lot easier to live with; you might even look forward to it. I'm sure not everyone in the (enormous) student body of UPenn is an elitist.

Enjoy college. Actually, I'm starting to make up my own list of colleges, which does include a few Ivies, but also many other, less known schools in the area. I have number one, but honestly, anywhere I go, I will enjoy my experience. Every college (I think) has a more diverse population than any private high school. So it's all what you make it.

Also, good luck :) I wish you the best!

Penn has a reputation as being the ivy where the students actually have FUN, so that's good for you. I think you'll enjoy the experience!

its about what yuo make of it. For akward nerds party schools feel like rejection. Although the partying at IVYs is less, there is more acceptance.
