I went to the first day of school today, and I was totally blah. Didn't pay much attention. Teachers gave homework, I sort of sloughed through it, wasted my time, did a lot of snacking....Last year I was on the ball. I had a schedule: do homework, practice flute and piano, have dinner at six, do homework, sleep & get up in the morning, run, do homework, go to school....everything played out as it should. Now I'm floating.

It's past 11 for heaven's sake! I fell asleep at 9 last year! I have zero motivation. How do I get it back?

Give it a few days before you give up on yourself. The first few days of school are always boring, but hopefully you'll start feeling more motivated after your teachers get some of the busy work out of the way.

I've had senioritis since freshman year. I go to sleep at midnight or a bit later. wake up at 6. have a nap in the shower. leave for the bus at like 7. get to school. come home at like 3 or 4 after activities. talk on AIM, snack, talk, snack. procrastinate. start homework at 10. finish at midnight or a bit later. repeat.

You whiny day schoolers. This is a way of life for boarding school kids. If you think you get distracted easily, try living in a house with 30 other kids your own age without parental observation.

I'm afraid I'm going to come down with a case of senioritis when I start school on Tuesday. For me at least, I feel like this isn't even an actual year, it's just for fun. I don't know why I feel this way, but I just do :p

Thats so true! Everyday all we do is chill and go into eachothers rooms, talk about chicks, order food, play games and talk.. and after all that its lights out.. damn.

I know this kid who goes to boarding school and he actually lives like less than 5 miles away. kinda pointless in that case ..

Anyway I agree 100% with jimmy, i remember starting my DBQs last year at 3 am and finishing at 5 am while falling asleep, and then rushing to go to the ap us history review sessions at 7:30 am in the morning .. this was near the end of the year though where i almost completely lost motivation.. during the year i'd finish around 2-3 too

for me senior year is gonna be BS, if yur on this board you should be able to be smart enough to BS yur way through this final year with steady grades...thats what ill be doing, i probably wont take any books home all year and still improve rank

im worried about this year because for the last month of last year i couldnt even find the motivation to copy someone elses homework before class. this was when the homework was offered to me to copy it... if there wasnt a xerox machine nearby there wasnt a chance i would have the homework for class. in the only class the teacher actually checked homework after a week of lame excuses i just started saying i didnt feel like doing it. im just hoping i can find some motivation for the first half of this year and then to study for AP's...

meateater, I know what you mean...at my school you can spot the boarders easily - they're generally messiers, more distracted, and go to the Disciplinary Committee more often.

Just keep your graduation date in your head. It's what's going to keep me going this year.
