Okay, this leads to my next question: how am I supposed to know whether I will be able to maintain a 3.6+ at Hopkins? I know I’ll be working my butt off, but I dont know how this translates into a specific GPA.

Also, maybe this isnt the thread to post this but I’ll ask anyways: is there a website or some other source that details what medical schools Hopkins grads attend? That’s something that I’m very interested in knowing.

If you can, you should visit both schools to get a feel which one is the better fit for you. There’s no way to know what kind of GPA’s you will end up with, but I would guess that it’s easier to achieve the targer GPA at SLU, compared to JHU.

dont go there!!!
the place sucks. the whole administration ppl there want u to drop pre med and arent that helpful. i transferred. dont waste ur time! trust me because i did!

Favre4757–why do you say that? Into what program were you initially admitted?

favre4757 - which school do you mean by “there”?..

I read somewhere in CC that the Admission Office at JHU posted at 3 am the day of the announcement to let students know how they’re going to notify the applicants. That to me was an act of caring and kindness. I don’t know of any other school offcials who did that.

Take SLU. I have way too many friends who have gone to JHU and been crushed by the pre-med competition there. Its really really intense. And a lot of these were really smart kids too. If you want to do BME for sure and then go to med school and you have passion for it, go to JHU, you will have to work like hell but as long as you work like hell, you’ll make it out okay. If your goal is med school and you want something more secure, go to SLU.

does anyone know exact numbers on how many applied and how many were accepted?

If any of you guys can remember,
was there any specific essay you had to write just for the medical scholars program?
I know you need to write one for regular undergraduate admission and another one if you’re applying to the Honors Program.
I just wanted to know if there was any specific essay for the medical scholars program.

If yes, does the Honors Program essay count as your medical scholars program essay?

bump…anyone heard yet?

Has anyone heard yet? A bit anxious as 2010 results were announced by Feb 19 or so. Heard from SLU officials that March 1 '11 is when this year’s MSP results would be released…MySLU site still not updated.

Any idea of form of notifications…email, mail, web site.

i know that the decisions will go out via mail for sure.

Did anyone hear back?. If so, are you in-state or out-of-state?

Yep, I heard back today. Got accepted, pretty happy about it. Out of state to answer your question.

i got accepted as well…and as far as in-state vs. out-of-state goes, Slu is a private university so doesnt matter where you live, it costs the same and the odds of getting accepted are the same

Hi Arjun111 & Dinny123
I have not received the result yet, just wondering if you have checked MySLU portal and to see if they have updated MySLU site please. I checked it does not have any result for MSP. Thanks and congratulation!

i was accepted last week too. I don’t know if i will be doing it though. I am set on being a doctor, but I don’t know if I want to spend 8+ years in saint louis…

@stephen150 They mailed me a letter so I am pretty sure that it is not posted online, so I guess check your mail each day to see the decision.

Hey! I got accepted last week…and I’m honestly pretty surprised considering I had the minimum 30 on my ACT…

Mind if I ask what your guys’ grades/stats are? And how many of you are thinking about actually going?

What did you mean “minimum 30 on my ACT…”?

I got accepted too, my GPA is 4.0 uw, ACT 34.
