Smart idea to move on before time's up?

So I'm taking practice tests at home right now. I'm wondering what you guys think of moving on before the time's up. It's obviously not 100% realistic to test day, since I'll actually have to wait until the time is up to move on. The thing is, I sometimes finish 5 - 10 minutes before time, so I double-check my answers quickly and then decide to move on to the next section. Do you think it's a bad idea, since I might not be quite as prepared for test fatigue and length on the actual test? Or will it not make a big difference if I continue doing this?

It doesn’t really matter. But get in the habit of checking your work.

^ I would recommend that for Math only and maybe Writing. In CR, it’s rather hard to check your work and usually, you just look at your answers triumphantly anyways.

I actually don’t recommend checking answers in any section. It is always better, instead, to slow down on the sections that you finish too fast. Slowing down and spending a few seconds extra on each question will help you catch more mistakes than checking your answers. In a couple of minutes, you can’t read all of the questions and answers to check them , so the chances of catching something is fairly slim.

And anyway, I don’t make that many careless errors. I probably check my math questions a total of at least thrice, because I tend to check it right after I do it.

But we’re digressing. My question was if moving on before time was up would be disadvantageous or advantageous for me, in terms of practicing for the actual test. Khoitrinh said it doesn’t matter, but lolilaughed didn’t bother to say. :stuck_out_tongue: So, what say you, Mr. Jonas Brothers? And anyone else, for that matter.

maybe relax and refocus after you’ve done checking… but not going to the next section during practice will kill the temptation to do this on the actual test, which is a good thing.
