Hey guys i was just wondering if i would be able to transfer to any of these schools?

Temple University
Ohio State University--Columbus
Purdue University--West Lafayette
University of Maryland--College Park
University of Pittsburgh
Indiana University--Bloomington
Drexel University
University of Arizona
Pennsylvania State University--University Park
University of Illinois--Urbana-Champaign

I did bad in high school, graduating with a 2.45 gpa and ranked 273/411. I admit that I messed up in high school but I am willing to change during college. I never gotten anything under a C- however, I have lots of C-'s as grades and that is why my gpa is low. I did take AP Statistics and Honors Japanese in which I got C- in both classes. As of right now, I am a student at University of Connecticut at Stamford (branch campus). I am taking summer classes in which I will earn 7 credits and plan on taking 30 credits for the 2011 school year. I cant say that I like my school but it is the best i have, the only real problem I have is that it is far away and i must commute in traffic. Also living at home can be a bit stressful for me. I know the deadline for transferring into fall 2012 semester is before I finish my second semester at Uconn Stamford but do you guys think I have a chance of getting into one of these schools with 22 credits done after my first semester? Or, because of my high school grades should I wait until I finish my second year and then transfer? Any answer will be greatly appreciated

P.S. Right now I am undecided but I am planing to major in either fiance or Computer science.

I don’t know much about transferring to the schools you listed, but if I were you, I would also consider applying to the main University of Connecticut campus in storrs. From your post, it seems that your problems are centered on your situation as a commuter. I assume that it would be easy for you to transfer to the main campus from the regional campus, and it would probably be much cheaper because you are in state.

Additionally, If I were you I would check some of the previous acceptance threads 2011, 2010, 2009, etc to see what type of stats got people accepted to the schools that you are interested in or similar institutions in the past.

thank you solar333 for the response but the thing is that UConn Stamford will not let you do campus change until after your second year unless you have a certain major in which the campus does not offer classes in. But I will still take your advise and look at some of the other threads and again thank you

It depends on the school and there requirements some schools once you have a certain amount like 30 or 25 credits they wont look at your HS no more (check the school transfer requirements on there page) for example UMD you have to submit HS grades if you have fewer than 30. btw i had a 2.1 in HS now a 3.7 in CC and im also looking to transfer after a year

I recommend you stay transfer after two years. I was actually in the same boat as you. I left High School early with a 2.8 GPA and even got my first and only F. However, after a long break, I got back on my feet. My high school GPA and ACT scores were enough to get me into a community college. I actually started talking to a university when I was a freshman about transferring. Because of my past, they told me to go another semester and submit my newest semester grades. I didn’t have the core classes required to get into the university, but my high school stuff was enough. But like I said, I had a lot of trouble in high school. If you ask me, the university wanted to see if I was real in my change.

They’ll look at your highschool grades less if you transfer after two years, so I would do that.
