SMC, I love it

I really like my community college! I spent crazy amounts of time on ratemyprofessors.com, and all of my teachers are great. Half the students do not come to class, so I feel like I am at a private school. I am also really excited about the honors program I am going to start next fall! I just wish I had more friends here though so I didn't have to go home to San Diego all the time to play. Anyways, I am excited to be here and I am excited to transfer hopefully to NYU! wwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

lol....

Don't let CCprison c this message, he'll go insane.

U're right about ratemyprof helped me find some extremely chill teachers.

Compared to how it was to start the semester, it has quieted down immensely. U can tell just by the parking lot, a lot less people show up since the drop dealine.

WHat major are u? WHat classes u taking?

I am biochem or chem or bio major....

I am a sociology major taking sociological classes

yay for fellow soc majors (you're the first i've found on here)

Good to hear that you're enjoying it. I'll be attending this coming Fall Semester.

Just a quick question
My enrollment date is going to be pretty late (around late August). Do you think I could switch professors/classes once the semester has started off? I hope I don't get stuck with mediocre teachers.

How is housing around SMC? Expensive...Cheap?

Thanks

August is a late enrollment date, but you probably will get the classes you want. If you want to be in the honors program I think you can enroll earlier. What I suggest when choosing classes is to pick all the ones you may want to take, check all the professors that teach them on ratemyprofessors.com, then use time as the last factor. If you cannot get the classes you want, enroll in others and drop into the ones you want on the first day. Most teachers to not have a problem adding unenrolled students because most people wont go back to class.

Housing around SMC is very expensive, but if you look hard enough you can find something. I share a room in an adorable 2 bedroom house walking distance to the school, and I love it. I pay 450 a month. Most places are about 1200+ for a 1 bedroom and about 1600+ for a 2 bedroom. Look on Craiglist.com, and rent.com in the roommates section.

I hope I helped, Ginger

I know this may sound like stupid question but how do I know the courses I need to take? Is there a set of requirements at SMC which you must fufill to get an associates (I'm a business major hoping to transfer to USC/UC's)? Thanks a lot

go to assist.org chose the school and major u wanna enter, u won't find usc there though.

U can also find the stuff on smc.edu, look at transfering section.

Also check out IGTC, those are general ed class everyone needs except engineering people and also serve as guide for taking minimal requirements for UC
