***Smith Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion***

I was afraid of that. Thanks. Will not be a happy night here tonight.

Wow! my daughter got one!

Accepted today + STRIDE recipient after receiving an early write! They even offered to reimburse me for travel (although I live in MA lol) so excited!!

So are decisions out, or is this just scholarship info for early writes?

Yeah, this is just scholarship notifications for those who received the STRIDE scholarship. The RD decisions won’t officially come out until 3/23 I think.

Ugh. So probably no STRIDE for my DD. Fingers crossed for at least an acceptance! (But probably out of reach for us financially without the STRIDE.)

RD decisions will be posted on March 23 according to admissions.

Did anyone receive Zollman scholarship notification yet?

@smcirish would these have come out at the same time as STRIDE? If you didn’t hear today does that mean you didn’t get a scholarship?

What’s the difference between zollman and stride? Is it just the extra 5000 dollars a year? (I got a zollman scholarship and my friend, who I would say is more qualified, just got stride).

Also, I was accepted to UCLA and Harvey Mudd for engineering. I like smaller schools, and I think I like Mudd a bit more, but Smith is much cheaper. Thoughts? How is Smith’s engineering? Why Smith?

@agfavista1600 Sure, but remember you asked for it ;).

GPA: 4.36W/4.00UW
SAT: 1450 (690E/760M)

ECs: Valedictorian (it is automatic for 4.00UW GPA for 7 consecutive semesters), National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar; EQT/Siemens Award Nominee; 2 years Research at a local University with an ASCB Poster; Cornell University Curie Academy Scholar; Carnegie Mellon University SAMS Scholar; Drama and Choir since I was 7 years old with tons of leads; Co-Captain of Regional Champion ( 2 out of 3 years) BOB Team, low leadership in a bunch of other clubs like INTERACT, Poetry, and Robotics.

My English score is kinda low since I only started English instruction in the 8th grade when I moved back to the US from France. I did speak English at home all my life, but I was never formally taught to write and spell (try spelling English words only knowing French phonics . . . not good).

@MaschinenmÀdchen You applied to Smith for engineering right? Any thoughts on their engineering program?

Hey @Jlong1220 . Nice to see you on the Smith board. DD got an early write, helped a lot with yesterday’s disappointment. Good luck to your DD.

My DD got an early write last month, and yesterday was notified she got STRIDE! So excited for her!
ACT 34, GPA 97, all IB with BC calc and 2 years of physics. Lots of ECs
Deferred ED1 from Bowdoin, then rejected.
Thank you ! Sisterhood is powerful!

@Auracle I really liked what I saw, and they are really committed to investing in the program and continuing its amazing progress. They also do a great job of promoting graduates and making sure that students have access to internship opportunities (i.e., we have access to the engIN engineering Internship Network as well as funding for research opportunities). One issue is that they don’t have concentrations, so it is a general engineering program.

Guys
I’m so nervous. Smith is my dream school. I can’t see myself anywhere else:/

5 days everyone, good luck to us all.

received a notification today from USPS that a package has been sent w/tracking number. Origin of package is from NORTHHAMPTON, MA.

Congrats! @MisPollitas00 I bet this is something fun! For everyone else, the vast majority of decisions go out Friday, so don’t panic if you aren’t getting a package. I suspect this is for those who have already been notified of STRIDE awards. Decisions will be here soon!
