I didn’t find last year’s ED thread, but found the RD thread. Here it is: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/smith-college/1973462-smith-college-class-of-2021-regular-rd-decision-thread-p4.html
I know it’s mid-December, I just hope it’s sooner because I’m so anxious about getting in
Guys, it took a while (and I put my detective skills to a use) but I found the early decision thread for Smith for the class of 2021. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/smith-college/1936898-ed1-class-of-2021-p1.html Anyways, I’m anxious too but I’m not trying to stress until it reaches December.
Just as an FYI, for RD decisions, I was emailed on Monday March 20th that decisions would be released on Friday March 24th at 6 PM. It gave instructions on how to access the decision as well as financial aid information. I remember that decisions were released a few hours early, maybe 2 PM? Deb Shaver tweeted when they went up I think.
ED might be similar, just a smaller scale
@hafsa3 Merit awards cannot be added on top of student’s federally determined need, meaning that a STRIDE award will not affect the total amount of aid packages for students receiving more than $20,000—$25,000 for the Zollman— in financial aid.
Hey everyone! I toured smith in early November and I absolutely loved it. I missed the ED 1 deadline but I’m trying to decide if I should apply ED 2 because honestly smith is just all I can ever think about lately. Everything about smith seems perfect for me except for the fact that it’s in MA and I live in California…I’m worried about homesickness, cost of flying back and forth, etc. Any advice?
Honestly it’s a similar problem here. I’m from Texas and it’s hot as heck. When I visited in march it was so cold, l couldn’t do it haha
@sapphiccatlover My D1 is a 2nd year at Smith. Also, from California. Travel isn’t easy but doable. She has been homesick at times but there are lots of ways to engage on the campus and off. It is hard to come home for shorter breaks (Thanksgiving), but not too bad for the winter and spring breaks. She has a peculiar way at looking at the distance/weather/cultural differences - “it’s like I’m studying abroad without leaving the US.”
@Fangirl1999, it was the same process for ED 1 decisions last year. My D received an email saying that decisions would be posted online at 6pm on whatever day in December. If the news was good, a packet would arrive by snail mail a couple of days later. The decisions were actually posted before 6, which was most fortunate as D was sitting at her computer hitting refresh long before then. Even more fortunately, her decision began with the word “Congratulations!” For those of you waiting impatiently now, hang in there, and I wish you the best of luck.
Only two weeks now and I’m freaking out does anyone wanna just quit the whole college thing and come live in the wild with me? Smith can’t reject us there
Tbh I’m already in and committed and quitting and living in the wild doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Let’s Chris McCandless this thing.
Except minus the death part
yesterday I met someone from my city who is also applying early decision to smith!! we are so nervous
“We know that colleges ask a lot of hard questions on their applications. This one is not so hard and we promise, there is no hidden agenda-just have fun! If you could star in any movie, what movie would you pick and why?”
… If I could star in any movie, I would star in “Into the Wild” because I too wish to drop all of my responsibilities and live in the woods.
With my luck, I’d probably be eaten by a bear in the woods. Or I’d accidentally light myself on fire trying to roast my marshmallows.
Side note: I have been reading through ED decision posts from the past decade. It seems every five years, Smith releases decisions on the 12th of December. Given last year was the 13th, it may be the 12th this year. We should know by this Friday what the official date is.
I applied early decision also and I’m from Florida! I’ve visited twice and I love it The winter is gonna be a challenger for me…if I get in. Do you guys think we will find out december 13th since that’s when the ed applicants found out last year?
I think they tell the applicants on the Friday before decisions and from recent threads I’m seeing that people get their decision 4 days after the day they recieve the email. Since the 8th is Friday… I’m thinking the 12?
Also applied ED to Smith here! Am I late for the discussion…? super anxious
I’m so nervous so that I cannot work on my regular school essays!
I applied ED!
