***Smith Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion***

@Lelabou I mean… I am backpacking across rural Spain next July. Ditching the trail and roughing it in the mountains until an untimely death doesn’t seem like a horrible idea. You could join, if you want. Definitely not as cold as “Into the Wild”

Deb Shaver just posted on Twitter that we’ll know on the 14th at 6:00 pm!! I’m so nervous!

AHHHHHHHHHH

Good luck everyone! We got this.

I wish it were the 14th already!

I’m from Houston and no we have not got this we totally got this again! BUT if I don’t get in I will be leading a group backpacking trip across the Atlantic ocean all are welcome!!!

14th is much later than previous announcement dates…I’m worried about the acceptance rate AHHH…

I didn’t think it was much later than other years? ED and EA’s normal date is December 15. I know Wellesley’s date was moved to tomorrow but after the Hillary thing, there are only more people applying so I think it’s all just relative. I know deadlines were moved because of Harvey so that could be why

1 week!

I’m so happy I finally found this thread. I’m an international student who applied for ED 1 too… I’m so nervous.

Ahh only 6 days! I’m kinda freaking out ngl

My girlfriend just got into Wellesley! I’m hoping Smith will give me a yes already! Good luck you guys!!! (yes ik stereotype lmao)

How do you find out about your admission status? My daughter has applied ED to Smith. She has received an email from the Financial Aid office with her BannerWeb ID that allows her to access her Financial Aid application status, but she has not received an email from the admissions office with login credentials to access her admission status. Is this the case for anyone else here?

yes that’s the same for me, i think they give it to everyone who applies so their financial aid will be available immediately

When I first applied to Smith I got an email with the subject “Thank you for applying to Smith College!” and it has my login information and link to the admission status website.

hi! i applied ED as well. i haven’t gotten another email from Smith since the one i first received, with the subject “Thank you for applying to Smith College!”. should i be expecting another email?

hey there, ED applier as well, and recently i’ve been worrying about the fact i forgot to send in my scores through collegeboard… i know the school is test-optional, and i even put all my testing information on my applications, but i’m afraid this will screw me up a bit  the rest of my application is great: teacher recommendations, schedule, interview, and essay are all something i know are strong, but that score thing is just messing me up… anyone else do the same / can console me ? cheers to this pre-admission stress though, i know i’m ready for that backpack trip…

because smith is test optional this wont affect your application at all! smith could not care less about whether or not you reported your scores dw about it!

@kinemacolor I’d say call them and ask what the best course of action is. Did you send the scores once you realized you’d forgotten? Will they consider your self-reported scores? They will let you know. If your scores are good but they won’t take self-reported scores, you may want to see if they can push your application to ED2. Smith is test-optional but that doesn’t mean test scores don’t count for anything.

My D applied ED last year and chose not to send in her ACT or SAT scores because “they are just IQ tests and don’t show the true potential of the individual”. She was accepted with a STRIDE scholarship. If the rest of your application is strong- don’t worry about it!

My D got an e-mail giving the date the and time the ED announcements would go out via e-mail (Friday, December 13th at 6 pm). I was a wreck for her because Smith was her top choice by far. I popped on this site a little after 4 and students were already posting their acceptance results. I told my D the results might be out and she got on her phone. There was a lot of happy screaming. She got her acceptance packet with her STRIDE letter the next Wednesday. It also contained a very detailed cost summary. She did not receive any scholarship/financial info in the initial acceptance e-mail.

Good luck!
