Smith or Oberlin, needto decide by May 1st!

I cannot decide between Smith or Oberlin college. My academic interests are psychology, biology, music, and literature. I really like Smith, I just don't like the fact that it's an all girls school, whereas with Oberlin, I feel as if it is in the middle of nowhere. (Smith is near Boston and New York, which I like.) The financial cost for each school is the same. I live in Pittsburgh, and I don't want to be too close to home.

My parents want me to go to Smith, but all of my friends are mixed.

I am not as worried about academics, because I know I will have a good education at either school. I am mostly concerned with the social aspects/environment of each school.

Where should I go!!!

I went to one of the other "sisters" back in the day. Your social life is what you make it. There will be guys around because of the various cooperation agreements Smith has with other colleges. If you get off campus on the weekends, you can visit the guys you know, or that your Smith pals know, at whatever colleges they go to. It just will require a bit more creativity than if the guys were living down the hall in your residence hall!

You can be very happy there if you choose to go.

Wishing you all the best.

Aren't any girls at Smith. Only women.

(and there's a lot more "there, there.")

Smith is a great place. You can find boys elsewhere.

Oberlin is a great place too. And the "middle of nowhere" issue is a non-issue for most students I know--there's more going on on campus than anyone could possibly exhaust. But maybe if you need to be talked into going there, it's not the right school for you.
