I wanted to let those politically minded prospies know that the Smith Democrats reached over 10,000 voters during this campaign season. They campaigned door to door, made phone calls, and in general worked real hard. All seven of the candidate's they worked for won their races, and it's awesome that Smithies got to be a part of that. So, if you like politics, come to Smith, and in 2008 you can help the Smith Dems create their next big number. Just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing.

My Smith-student D is currently doing an internship on Capitol Hill and was at the DCCC victory party when Bruce Springsteen was playing "Born to Run," when Rahm Emmanuel spoke, and when Jim Webb went ahead in the vote in Virginia. Way cool for the politically and Democratcally inclined.

and for the non-dems, Smith senior Michaela LeBlanc was the youngest state senate candidate in MA history, and got 15% of the vote...not bad for a republican in western mass, and only 1% less than 2004's republican candidate for the seat (who's a smith prof).

so there's excitement on both sides of the aisle in northampton this november!
