Smoke from Canadian forest fires (or others)

Hope PA keeps going in good direction.

135, I opened a window. Last night I did sit on the porch for about 15 minutes, we don’t even have central air so couldn’t even turn on the air conditioner and it was so stuffy.

For the last month I’ve been in the DC area caring for my baby granddaughter. We were having a fine time walking for several hours daily until yesterday. Inside, all day with an infant, less fun. Yesterday was in the 170s, Today, mid 200s, but now 197.

Years ago in California we had wildfires turning the sky smoky and the sun orange. This is grey haze for the most part, though haven’t walked outside to look.

It was so awful in September 2020 when we had smoke here in Portland. I remember it being above 500 for what felt like weeks. I am so sorry that you all on the east coast are experiencing it now.

It does feel so dystopian to live through and it can be really discouraging in terms of what we can/are doing regarding climate chaos.

My SiL is one who is likely to believe such nonsense. I’ve already tried to explain about the fairly frequent AQI warnings we get in the summer due to high levels of ozone.

My heart goes out to all those who’ve had to evacuate due to the fires.

My S was at a training for work, outside DC, this week. He called on his way home to ask how the air is in our area. He said it was awful in DC, and it’s really hazy where he was currently in his drive (Cleveland area). I told him that we actually had some blue sky today, but that the wind is blowing smoke our way again now. He lives about an hour & a quarter from us, and apparently they are getting both the Canadian wildfire smoke and the smoke from smaller wildfires in our state, as well. Ugh. It’s going to be a long summer.

My SIL wouldn’t let husband go to Yankees game today even though “air quality was down to 150.” Good for her; husband would have taken the risk to see them play.

It looks like sunset here at n eastern PA. But sunset is much later!

Not sure what the grandkids will be breathing in, but what were we breathing in?

I’m so so glad that when we were in NYC in apr/may, the air was ok. It would be really awful for me with my awful lungs.

The latest trend.

Looks like things have eased this morning. Hopefully that trend continues.

ABC Evening News said that yesterday morning AQI was 491 in Harrisburg!

The AirNow app says AQI of 21 in Western suburb of Boston this morning. It has been a lot worse before. ShawWife really affected by it.

61 here (was over 400 at peak) in Brooklyn. I just opened a window.

I’m on a flight tomorrow from Boston to BWI–I’ve got my finger crossed that the flight won’t be delayed or cancelled. I’m going to a wedding shower for the daughter of very close family friends. I’ve heard about flights being cancelled to NYC and Philadelphia because of visibility but haven’t heard anything about BWI.

I’m in western Michigan today, and although I can tell that the sky is blue, it’s covered with a haze.
