SMU Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

SO from what I gathered (my aunt works at SMU) it does not include your specific college/major. This is a general acceptance to SMU. Specific colleges (i.e Cox) will send out information soon (date is TBD). hope this helps

@exlawyer, thanks for the message. CC wouldn’t let me reply, because I don’t have enough posts, but I’ll look for further communication from the engineering department soon.

You’re accepted to SMU, not to a major or colleges. The only ones with separate admission practices are Cox (you take seven classes to get in, typically mid-Soph year) and performing arts in Meadows (audition).

Honors Programs and college scholarships typically go out next month for EA applicants.

Congrats, folks! Tweet a pic of you with your packet to @SMUAdmission and make sure to like the SMU Class of 2017 page

When should Connecticut receive the package? I’m so excited/anxious!

I am so nervous! I am from south Louisiana and still didn’t receive anything yet!

My son’s acceptance package came yesterday. We live in Colorado. We all liked the bright red envelope with the Mustang and the cerficate inside. Nicer presentation than other acceptances my son had gotten previously. He received the Founder’s scholarship.

I have a question for people applying for Meadows. My son submitted a pre-screen video of him singing. Does anyone know when we will hear if he made the cut for an audition? We are signed up for a Feb audition, but I am assuming we will hear pretty soon if he is invited to come so we can make airline reservations.

John- I got nothing in the mail today, but I did just speak with someone in the undergrad admissions office, and they told me that all decisions-acceptances, deferrals, rejections- were sent at the same time… So that would mean that everyone that hasnt gotten an answer yet could still get in!

Should we call the school for notfications?

Just received the admissions envelope in today’s mail - Los Angeles area.

Received admission envelope today in Florida, but waiting for kids to come home from school to open. Bright red, says SMU BOUND! on the outside.

Man! I still don’t get it yet, and I am next to Texas!

Hi - My daughter is also a vocal performance major and has sent in a recording. Very wonderful experience overall. I am not sure if you have visited the campus. You are welcome to message me and we can chat.
Congrats!

JustinLA, you never know. I got an acceptance to another university that the mailman misdelivered to a neighbor who got busy and didn’t bring it by my house for a few days!! Hope your letter shows up soon.

Well we’re still hopeful for smu.
My daughter was nominated Miss (name of school), and most likely to succeed, and most artistic. Her advisor said to keep them updated on things. Do you think we should let them know or is that what they mean? Would that help her with scholarships at this point I wonder? She was awarded the Founders scholarship.

From the Northwest with nothing yet! I got into the music school already. My dad says “You know, the bigger the package, the longer it will take!” I hope that’s true… It took five days to get my music school acceptance in the mail. I have fallen in love with this school. I’ll be heartbroken if I don’t get in :frowning: Fingers crossed!
