Got an email with an invite to the BBA Scholars Program!! Does anyone know how the President’s Scholarship works and if any has been sent out?
@momoftres Congratulations are in order! My DD received a letter for President’s
Scholar in 2014. With my DD, the PS’s were invited to a weekend on campus. As I recall it was just 100 students. I believe that about 50% of the candidates are offered a PS and about 1/2 take it.

@msint17 - My son received the email this morning about President’s Scholars. It was generic (not to his specifically), so I assume it was mass mailed to the finalists so far.
Got into SMU EA with the Distinguished Scholarship, $25k yearly/$100k total! I also got the 7.5k yearly BBA Scholarship. Excited to say the least!
Has anyone else received an email about UHP/Presidential Scholarship?
On the website it says February the committee selects the finalists for President’s Scholars after the January 15th priority application deadline. @paulum do you recall when your daughter was notified in 2014? Thanks for your help!
@University2468 She applied EA and received her notification for the PS finalist on Christmas Eve via snail mail. It was an awesome Christmas.
@University2468 - The email my son received yesterday congratulated him and said that a letter from the president was sent out on Monday.

@3589Annabel - what did the president’s scholar notification letter look like? I thought my daughter just received a Christmas card but now I’m wondering what is in the envelope … and she’s working late tonight 
@azmomof3 It was an envelope from President Turner. Before I got it, I had received an email that said I’d be getting both a note from the President of the school and a package from SMU about being a finalist for the president’s scholarship. Fingers crossed for you – I hope your daughter’s a finalist!

Make me nervous. On Dec16, I had an offer SMU Distinguished Scholarship ($100000 for 4 years or $25000/each year)
Today I got a mail with an offer from Bobby Lyle Engineering school (something like Discovery scholarship), an amount of $36000/year or $9000/year. I called SMU this afternoon, they answered that PS invitations would be sent out in Feb 2017. Now some of you report of receiving PS notifications by this Xmas. I feel sad for myself
This year, SMU Distinguished Scholarship letter - part of it - as followed
"The SMU Scholarship Committee has chosen you as an SMU Distinguished Scholar. Congratulations! Your academic and personal achievement to date makes us confident that you will be a valuable member of the SMU community.
The University provides each SMU Distinguished Scholar with up to $100,000 ($25,000 annually) in scholarships during their undergraduate years at SMU. This award may be renewed each year providing you maintain full-time continuous enrollment and earn a 3.000 or better cumulative SMU grade point average at the end of each spring semester. Your scholarship funding will be available for either four years or until you graduate, whichever comes first."

“On behalf of the Dean, faculty, and staff of the Bobby B. "The Selection Process
January 15 Priority Deadline
You are encouraged to submit your completed application by the November 1 deadline, but you must complete and return your Application for Admission by January 15, which is the deadline for priority consideration for most SMU merit scholarships.
February
SMU faculty committees select about 60 finalists to be interviewed.
March
All finalists are invited to campus for personal interviews. Interviews are required for consideration for the President’s Scholar award.
SMU covers all expenses for meals and accommodations during the campus interview process.
In addition to meeting SMU President R. Gerald Turner at a reception and banquet, finalists meet with current President’s Scholars, President’s Scholars alumni, professors who teach in their area of academic interest, and others in the SMU community."
@dallaspiano Hi! I think you still have a shot at the scholarship - not all SMU pres scholars have been notified - just a few from the EA pool. Even if you applied EA and haven’t gotten a notification, you might in February, once they’ve decided everyone who they’ll invite to interview. Stay positive, they’ve offered you the top scholarships they give, which correlates to the people they invite (from what I’ve seen via Google), so you still have a very good shot.
