SMU vs. UW-Madison vs. Miami OH

Hey everyone! I am a senior and I am deciding between the schools listed above. My intended major is business (accounting or marketing). I fell in love with SMU when I visited, but I didn’t get very much financial aid. Now I am wondering, is SMU prestigious enough to be worth being in tons of debt after graduation? I would be able to go to UW or Miami for much less money. UW is probably my second choice if I can’t afford SMU. I didn’t really like Miami when I visited, but I’m thinking about visiting again just to see. Thanks!

Even schools like HYP are not worth being in tons of debt after graduation. So, definitely NOT SMU. I don’t think people would consider SMU “prestigious” in the same way top 20 schools are.
Why not UW? From quick research, it’s one of the best not only in the nation but the world. Marketing at UW is also highly ranked.

@FireBallsDJ I really like UW except for the size. It’s a huge state school, but I think I would get used to it.

What are you looking for in a school? I currently attend SMU (business major) and I’m honestly transferring. I know people here that either absolutely love smu or absolutely hate it. I think it all depends on what you’re looking for in a college. You can DM me if you want my opinion.

SMU is a great school, but not worth going into a lot of debt for. No school is really worth going into a LOT of untenable debt - if you have to borrow more than around $40-55K I’d say it’s not worth it. (Where the cutoff is in that range varies from person to person, of course.)

UW and Miami (OH) are both excellent schools. If UW is too big, I think Miami is quite a bit smaller than it.
