Smyth Hall?

So....dorm assignments came out yesterday. I called my D to tell her what she got and her room mate, but she was unable to find Smyth on the small campus map she took up with her to her job. I looked it up and found it on the UDel web site, and got the basic details, but anyone know anything about what Smyth is like compared to the more well known dorms?

Okay, this may sound silly (and definitely outdated) but I lived in Smythe two years when I was at UD many years ago. It is located across from the old student center and scrounge. My son lived in Russell A last year (his freshman year) which is located across the street from Smythe. He was very happy with the location and convenience to campus.

Smythe is a single-building dorm unlike the other complexes (i.e Dickinson, Russell, Rodney, Harrington). I’m fairly certain it is co-ed by floor (that’s how it was two years ago, at least). It switches between a freshmen and upperclassmen dorm depending on enrollment. I’d say it’s just like any other dorm, and it’s right across the street from Perkins Student Center and Russell, Harrington, and other dorm complexes. Great location. A good friend of mine lived in Smythe a few years back and had a wonderful experience. Your D will probably end up mingling mostly with her floor/dorm mates and those from the complexes across the street. All the dorms have a uniqueness about them and there’s always a strong sense of community wherever you live on campus.

Thanks for the info.

My daughter was on the first floor of Smyth for her freshman year in 2009-2010. Great location both on the campus and her room in the building. Couldn’t have asked for a better lcoation. Smythe is older, but overall we were pleased.
