Idk, I thought a picture was required somewhere on the application?

This is the Common Application forum. I’m pretty sure that the Common Application, used by hundreds of colleges, is like most college applications in NOT asking for a picture of the applicant.

This opens July 1st?

Well, I created an account on Common App out of my folly, so do I have to wait until July 1? Or will my current account will get deleted?

They delete current accounts on June 12.
They re-launch on July 1.

what do you put under US Social Security # if you’re an international? It says optional unless applying for aid. I’m most likely applying for aid.

^ Leave it blank. We don’t have SSNs, not our fault :D

Maybe you’re thinking of the UCAS? I’m actually not entirely sure if the UCAS (basically the British ComApp) requires a picture but I know that the COAS (Cambridge Overseas Application Service) requires one.

I for one am so excited to start filling this out! I love filling out forms. It gives me such a feeling of satisfaction. But I am sort of worried about who to ask for my second teacher rec. I’m asking my AP Art History teacher for my first. I know my French teacher would write me an amazing one, but I feel like it would be dishonest to ask her because I hated her class and am in fact leaving it to take classes at uni this year. I thought maybe I should get one from a math teacher, but I haven’t had the best of grades in math (though my teacher thinks I’m a very hard teacher). So then I thought of science, but I had a gap year where I didn’t have my science teacher, so maybe he’s forgotten me a bit, and he still couldn’t speak as well of me as my French teacher, who has called me one of her “treasures.” Ugh.

Does anyone know how much we can change our applications between schools? For ex, if after I submit my app to a school, can I change my common app essay, teacher recs, and list of ec’s?

To change recommendations, it’s really easy. To change essays and activities you have to replicate your app. But yeah, you can change them for different schools.

I was mailed a copy of the 2009-2010 application to Harvard, which I received on Saturday. How similar is it to the online Common App?

Harvard’s application IS the Common Application, or the Universal Application (a different brand name), with the Harvard supplement. How was the application that you received labeled?

Hey I got one from Harvard too! Yup it’s the common app for 2009-10. I thought it would be out a bit later? =

I thought I was the only person…

P.S. - Does it cost money to receive paper copies of the Common Application? Can you just print out the internet copy? I’m in a complicated situation what with being in a distance learning school (meaning I have to communicate between two different schools and mail away for recommendations and transcripts), so it would be considerably easier for me to apply on paper.

how do u get the colleges to send u the application such as harvard as stated above?

Collegeboard search services/PSAT scores? On the letter they wrote:

“As do many other colleges, we take advantage of the search services of the College Board and the American College Testing Program to identify students whose test scores and grades suggest that they may be good candidates for our college”

anyone have the revised transfer forms?

Ya Harvard sent me one too and my scores were for the most part below average. Oh well probably won’t use this.

isnt the sneak peak one just like the 08-09 one?

hi guys.

The common app doesn’t have a CEEB code for harvard business school/graduate school.
does anyone know what to key in instead?
