Snottiness

Hey guys, I was wondering... Of the ivies, which have the most snotty kids? Is there any college in particular that sticks their nose in the air the most? What do you think?

Most of the ivies have their own 'circles' in which those type of kids tend to gather and isolate themselves so they can make snide comments about most of the other kids. The 'snotty' type of kid is in the vast minority at all the ivies from experience, though the one place I felt that whole vibe strongest was at Princeton, primarily due to the Ivy and Cottage eating clubs. I think the eating club system fosters elitism a little more into the mainstream than you would find at other schools, though that's just an opinion based off my limited exposure.

i disagree. did you visit princeton? i live here and i dont feel it. it's there, but not prevalent. probably unusual for someone from New Mexico, but nothing someone from Maryland wouldn't accept. (i.e. dressing "preppy")

actually the one college i think of is Vanderbilt, cuz the one really uber-snotty kid i know from HS is going there. and vandy's a very predominantly white school.

i actually got the vibe from people who say theyre going to harvard, though not from harvard when i actually visited harvard...strange?

I would say that Princeton and Vanderbilt were the two most snobbish schools that I have visited. I can't speak for Harvard as I've never been there, but then, people have that attitude no matter where you go.

bah! what kind of snobby experiences did you have at princeton?

sorry, ill be going there, it offends me slightly.

lol...oh Anonymous, let it go, you're going to be dealing with that stereotype forever.

I personally never found Princeton snobby. I almost didn't consider applying because of that stereotype, but you really have to see for yourself! I visited and the people were so nice and friendly. I even ate in a bicker eating club, and the people there were just as nice.

I did visit Harvard, though I didn't meet that many people, but the info session I attended wasn't very convincing- the admissions officer and student both seemed smug, like they didn't need to do any convincing because obviously it's Harvard, and that's all that needs to be said.

oh yeah, the harvard admissions staff is VERY smug.

but im not even a WASP! i dont apply to a single one of those initials!

(actually, maybe Saxon... i do play saxophone)

especially since i havent had a single snotty experience at princeton so far.

lol, i'm far from WASP or JAP.
I am pretty preppy though >.<

im preppy, too, but more in that outkast sorta way, not the private school rich kid sorta way.

Well, since I went to a private school filled with rich kids, it kinda rubbed off on me. But I swear I don't own Uggs...I'm just slightly preppy, not argyle/seersucker/tweed preppy.

haha i go to a public school, but almost everyone here wears polos. collar-popping is rampant (i don't do it).

don't think the style is correlated with personality, though. we've got tons of metrosexuals.

Polo-wearing and MULTIPLE-polos-wearing haha
I don't pop either, I just don't think I look good with it popped. Plus, if you don't starch the collars, it sometimes flops.

oh the double pop. haha we've got some of that. those kids use j. crew polos, theyve got good collars.

Asking which ivy is the most snooty or preppy is like asking which state uni has the slutiest chicks or which HBCU is the most ghetto. Some things are just indistinguisable.

I think Lacoste and Le Tigre were prevalent in my school.
There was like...a polo day or something when all these guys were wearing 5-10 polos haha.

hahahahah. its mostly j. crew and ralph lauren here (basically the stores in princeton).

lacoste is crazy pricey!

Emphasis on the private school with RICH kids part then! lol

Lol...5-10 polos? I assume it would be pretty difficult to pop ALL of those collars? By the way, what is a JAP?

Technically a "Jewish American Princess" but it basically means white and preppy...

Oh and yea it's possible to pop allll those collars.
