snow! (like a foot of it)

Same here. From What I can see the snow has melted a lot. Hopefully I can order a pizza by dinnertime at this rate.

So far every store has said they won’t deliver.

Italian Villa is open, and so are places on the corner. You could just walk over. There are a lot of pedestrians out. I walked over to Emmet/Ivy at 11:30 ish.
I still wouldn’t drive, the only driving I did was to move my car from emmet/ivy to newcomb which still did not involve going more than 15mph. So I don’t blame them.

Where is Itallian Villa? I have this paranoid fear that somehow my lock won’t open if I leave.

Time to shovel!!! New England weather forever <3 haha

Hi hazelb --The road conditions on the major highways and streets near Phila (incl blue route) are good – in case that helps any (can’t speak to the roads you would need to take to get here)

Is there a ride board for people in the phil area who need rides to/from school? I took the Amtrak!

I don’t know if there’s a board. My dorm arranges things through a mailing list.
My brother is on his way home from Michigan but I am going to wait until tomorrow so that I don’t have to drive any of the trip in the dark. Hopefully things will have melted a bit here as well.

You can check va511.org and get good information on road conditions- also updated real time to reflect accidents and problems along the way. Also think you can set it up to give you alerts on your mobile along specific routes you designate. 81 and 64 still appear to be problematic.

You think the snow will have melted by Tuesday night for the buses to be running?

noooo I don’t want the snow to melt

plus the flooded streets would be nasty

It really, really, isn’t that bad out. You don’t need to wait on the buses.

Listen, we walked to Barracks while it was still snowing.

I got the wet socks while sledding, and I chose to buy two gallons of liquid (cider + milk) so it wasn’t the cold from walking that affected me at all.

The Downtown Mall was alive with activity today…go out and have some fun! Cville hasn’t had a storm like this since the mid-90s.

No I already went out to get food.

I meant the bus that will take me back home.

UVA buses were running today, though I see now that wasn’t your question… Good luck with your bus!

Do you know of any places on Grounds that would rent or lend sleds / tubes? I don’t really want to keep a sled in my room when I suspect it might all melt in a few weeks :p

you could go for the trashbag over cardboard instead?

No, the University doesn’t have a cache of sleds. In Virginia, there isn’t much of a point.

The Outdoor Rec folks might have sleds, but I imagine they are closed up tight for break.

There is a time honored tradition of smuggling a tray out of the dining hall for sledding. It should be returned cleaned, of course. :)

There are no longer trays in our dining halls, Dean J. Where have you been? :p

Not to the dining halls, obviously. The only dining hall I use is the Pav. :)
