Snowboarding anywhere somewhat nearby?

Does anyone know of any decent ski/snowboarding mountain resorts within reasonable distance?
Do many kids go?
thanks!

... just one of those things that may help push me towards nd :)

I mean, if I'm having crappy weather and snow a lot (I've been checking the weather at ND... and...) ... well I might as well use it!

Closest places would be in Northern Michigan. It's the Midwest. There are no elevated landforms. Doesn't mean you can't have fun in the snow though. Campus gangs up on Zahm in snow fight - News

yaya I know... Wishful thinking :(

gosh leaving southern california would be so hard :(

It can be 70 here, but a 40 minute drive to the mountains and its 30 and half decent kinda snow.

I feel like if I move to Indiana... I'm gonna be one of those people from California that complains about bad weather and how much nicer it is out west

That article was written by a zahmbie and is completely biased. South quad first fought an epic battle against north quad. After we defeated north quad, zahm came out of their hole to see what was happening, so we beat up on them as an after thought. The only reason they didn't run and hide was that we had them pinned up against a fence.

Braaap,

Nearest snowboarding, I believe, is in Jones, Michigan. I went there last year with a few friends and it was about (I wanna say) an hour or a little more of a drive. The facility there was pretty good, but I was a first-time snowboarder - Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard Area Jones, Michigan - check out the link.

Not sure that a lot of people go but it's definitely possible. Groups will also sponsor group trips there - the Sophomore Class is sponsoring a trip there in late January for about 60 sophomores.

Swiss Valley is around 1 hour or slightly less. (the way I drive). It's about decent. It's an ant mount compared to anything on the east coast or west coast.

I'm from SoCal, haven't had too much trouble with the snow, it's a change of scenery. Student government usually sponsers ski/board trips in January/February like 40 bucks or something for the charter bus and lift ticket

thank you all. Im not looking for the best snow, socal is pretty terrible so i can live with whatever

Thanks!

you might be interested in the snowboarding team/ ski team.
My S is going on the ski team sponsored trip this year to Big Sky-Montana in early Jan. He isn't on the snowboarding team, but his buddy is, and claims it is a lot of fun, without being too intense.
Last year the club sponsored a ski trip in Jan to Aspen.

I've been on both trips and both were awesome. I loved them.

Red- bet you are wearing those warm ski clothes on campus now :)
