Snyder Hall

I know that Snyder Hall is a "substance-free" residential hall. How hard is it to get away with drinking at the other dorms? Also, what kind of people are at Snyder Hall? Are there a lot of attractive girls? Follow up question: where are the best parties at Six Pack, which dorms are the best, which ones have the most attractive girls? Thanks!!

Um…better get your priorities straight. Once you have your academics sorted out hwvr., you may want to consider rushing a greek lettered fraternity

I do have my priorities straight. I am not going to party and get drunk every day, but I want to drink a little bit. Academics are first on my list.

you can’t pick a specific dorm anyway so it doesn’t matter. there’s girls everywhere sooo…you sound like a ■■■■■

If you want to “drink a little bit,” then don’t apply to Snyder. Just apply Ike North, then Ike South. Maybe an LLC at either if you’re so inclined.

Honestly, there is an entire campus full of attractive females. I don’t think it’s really relevant whether they live in the same building as you or not.

If you’re living on-campus, you’re not going to be having people over to drink. That’s just not how it works.

You don’t need to live with partiers to party, unless you have some delusion that you’re going to be hosting on campus. If you’re really wanting to party, you’ll make those friends no matter where you live.
Regarding attractive girls, they’re not all living in one dorm and they’re not going to just hook up with whoever’s closest to them. Don’t base housing on that.

I’d advise you live near whichever building houses most of the classes in your major. The social part of college is easy- what you’re gonna want help with is the self-discipline. Being close to class gives you one less excuse to skip.

To Savant…if the kid wants to party let him party. If that’s not your thing thats cool but don’t ridicule others for it.

Just apply to to the six pack and anywhere there you’ll meet people who drink. Like someone said, you don’t get to pick which six pack dorm you live in so the drinkers and nondrinkers will be mixed. Good luck and have fun!

@aklauss17 I appreciate you having my back and thanks for the support! I will definitely take your advice!

@illinifan200583 You are entitled to your own opinions. Not sure how I sound like a ■■■■■, but hope you don’t talk to other people like that.

@everyone else Thank you for your input!

Snyder is a fine dorm, the whole “substance free” is really nothing more than a name. Kids drink in every dorm all over campus, and if you’re careful you won’t have a problem anywhere.

Stay away from FAR, PAR, LAR, and Allen Hall. If you get ANYWHERE in the six pack, you’re social life will flourish. If you life in one of the four I previously mentioned…enjoy your semester of hell, perhaps rush a fraternity, and move out of there ASAP. Don’t get worried, of course it isn’t THAT bad, but you will be jealous of all your friends in the six pack.

Party on.

Haha, mciasto, do you really believe that Allenites have poor social lives compared to people living in the Six Pack? Allen is easily the second most social dorm on campus, if not tied for the most social with the six pack. It might have a completely different culture, but it’s one of the friendliest and liveliest places on campus.

lol did you really just say Allen might be tied with six pack for most social dorm on campus…

Must agree. Allen Hall has many positive attributes. “Unit One” Living Learning Community has excellent programming. As one example, check out: “Allen Hall Zombie Mob 2011 at Krannert Center” on Youtube from last yr.'s Halloween.

Different people define social in different ways, I suppose. If you’re talking about the wildest dorm on campus, then yes, the six pack is full of partying bros. But social means “characterized by friendly companionship or relations,” which pretty much defines Allen.

I’ve hung around both dorms. Both had a lively atmosphere. Only difference was that everyone at the six pack seemed to be playing pick-up games of random sports or getting ready for parties, while those in the halls of Allen were just spending time with one another and socializing.

Well, let’s check out your logic.

Um, well…

I mean, if your definition of having a social life consists of spending most of it in your dorm building talking to mostly people solely from that building - then yeah, Allen is very social.

Getting back on topic of what the OP actually asked for - 90% of the hot girls live in the six pack. They’re everywhere. As far as parties in the six pack - it is nearly empty on weekend nights because everybody goes to frat parties(for the first 2 weeks), bars(if you’re 19), other GDI shindigs, ect. As long as you end up somewhere in the 6pack, you’re golden.

Also - search for other alternatives to get into bars if you have a late 19th birthday.
