UPDATE!!!!!!

Scored 32 on the ACT (33 superscore, I know princeton uses this). Thats ~2,200 for all you SAT fanatics... :D

So how am I looking now?

BTW the ACT 25-75 ranges on CMU and MIT are:
29-33 and 31-34.

Not sending my SAT report where subject tests are not required. (at least until I get a ~2200 on the SAT in january... :D )

And what schools besides princton superscore the ACT?

Out of:
Northwestern
RPI
CMU
MIT
U of Illinois
U of Maryland
Princeton
Cornell
Columbia

are you sending your subject scores futureEE to the ones that don't need it if you have ACT

-Bumpsie-

So how does my brand spakin' new ACT score of 32 (33 super) affect things?

Just gonna mention that Purdue has a top engineering dept, and is much easier to get into than all of those other places.

It looks like you have a focused passion, which is a good step to start from. I'd say that your biggest problem is your SAT I and II math scores. If you can greatly improve those your chances will go up big time.

As for right now, most of your schools are definite reaches. However I think the Public Universities are certainly in match territory. I would definitely recommend adding Georgia Tech. as well as one other safety University just in case.

Good Luck!

sat's are kinda low, if u get them up to above 700s u will have a chance at the ivies/mit
i think cause ur homeschooled u really need to assert the rigor of ur curriculum wit high sats

i dont see a lot of extracurrics, but the research is goos

chance back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/627471-chance-sista.html

So my (really?) good ACT score can't offset my mediocre SAT-I?

I feel fairly confident that I can get my SATs up, I was confident about my ACT and overshot my goal by 1 point comp (2 super).

Darn, I really hope they use my ACT!!!!

Err, just don't send the SAT scores at all. I don't think anywhere requires both, and if the numbers are in a high range percentile wise, then you're obviously set.

I wouldnt call Georgia Tech a safety school bud, your grades would make you the avg applicant, your ec's arent that great cept the research

a 30 on the ACT isn't that good its a 2000 and the schools your looking at are usually rejects kids with a 33 lol

afitscher, I should point out I did get 32 on the december ACT.

What about university of Illinois now? Do I have a good shot there? I'm only sending them my ACT, which is 32, and their engineering program has a mid 50 for the ACT of 30-33.

I am forced to send my SAT report everywhere except Ga-tech, U of IL and U of MD. All the other schools require SAT-IIs for homeschoolers.

Lemme just restate that for everyone else reading:

I now 32 on the ACT, not the 30 in the first post.

As of today all my apps are in except georgia tech, UMD and RPI. I'll send those next week.

k with a 32, your probly fine for GTech and RPI and UMD actually, but i dont remember ur original list

btw dump question i havent figured out, how to do post your chance thread when you chance others, i saw u did that

To post the thread, just paste the URL into the text, it links automatically.

Orignal list:
(For electrical engineering, duh!)
Northwestern (My top choice, showed strong interest)
RPI
MIT
Carnegie Mellon
U of Illinois
U of Maryland (My state school)
Princeton
Cornell
Columbia (3rd gen legacy)

I'm only sending my ACT of 32 everywhere that doesnt require subject tests. My ACT superscore is 33, but that only matters at a couple of them I think (MIT and Princeton?).

I'm pretty confident I can boost my SAT later this month...

Chances plox!

So this has nothing to do with this post except for the "am i totally screwed" part but i am really lost as to how to create a thread on here and i dont really feel like figuring it out right this moment either, so.. I NEED ADVICE! i ended up failing one of my classes in the fall semester and also dropped one but passed the other three but i lied about the failing grade to my parents and they are ****ED, obviously. So, they are threatening to send me to a community college instead of letting me go back which i think they are really serious about and i dont know what to do about it because i know i can change my ways but yeh... if anyone has anyyyy advice pleasee.. i really need some right now. thanks.

ok lets see, MIT idk if u did research still a mid range reach lol they suck, columbia legacy may help to bring it to low reach, cornell is hard to get in for engineering majors my guess ull be waitlisted, princeton idk man unlikely unless ur essays rock, in at Illinois, and NU idk interest is good but good essays would probly get ya in, let me know how it all goes for you.

chances would be appreciated, chances back ---thats not working btw lol

Northwestern: Reach
RPI: Match
MIT: High Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Reach
U of Illinois: Low Reach
U of Maryland: Low Match
Princeton: High Reach
Cornell: Reach
Columbia (3rd gen legacy): Reach

Overall I think if you place your research right you can get into a few of the matches and maybe some reaches. If you SAT I scores shoot up in your Jan. retake that would be incredibly helpful to your case, esp. since your math score doesn't fit into the regular crowd that applies for engineering at most of these schools.

U of IL will never see my SATs unless they somehow match me to this account. I am only submitting my ACT which breaks down:
C:32
E:34
M:30
R:29(33 on previous sitting, making superscore 33)
S:33
W:8

So given that UIL will never see my really low SAT math scores, how am I looking there?

Read: I can't believe UIL is reach for me with 32 on the ACT, srsly...
