haven't even started yet...and probably won't start until Mid August.

grade inflati0n- i just don't like sharapova. oops don't tell her that.

wont start until i start going for campus visits... i got friends at harvard and MIT... theyll help me with my essays and i also know the dean of a top uni in Florida who will correct them... yah im not really worried about apps... its the standardized test scores im worried about... app is easy, just put effort on Essay... most likely will finish app in october... once it comes out for july/august that is

September campus visits= skip 2 weeks of school! YAY! after it starts!

just out of curiosity, how many people are doing like 3-6 apps?
Im planning on SCEA Stanford, Harvard, Johns Hopkins... and obviously the UC schools lol cuz im californian born resident...

Unless I get into MIT early which is impossible... lol I'm looking at something between 8 and 15 right now.

Dammmmnnn... skipping 2 weeks of school?! Sometimes I miss like one day and feel completely behind haha

ambitiousteen: i'm doing 6 EA schools lol. =)

grade inflati0n, jw, which programs have you attended / which ones are you going to?

So...I have about 20 colleges on my list because I am paranoid I am not going to get into college.

AND I HAVE A DILEMNA!!!! UGH!!! I could stay home, study for the SAT's/ACT, get my volunteering hours up to date, basically finish my college apps BUT I am going to be out of the country for 3 MONTHS!! I'm going to be doing some intensive stuff in the Africa, the Middle East and then maybe, a sojourn to South Asia. But basically, my internet access^^ is obviously going to be erratic to NONE and while I can still work on my laptop, what I will be doing is going to be SO FREAKING time intensive, I will be drained and left with little time. I will be writing daily journals( if I don't get lazy and too tired) so hopefully I can use some of that material for college essays but...basically, come September,I will be catapaulted straight into demanding AP's, homework/tests/a MAJOR project mandated by my school for seniors, college apps(most of which are due by NOVEMBER 1ST for me because of UC's and EA or maybe ED if I go through with it), volunteering, last minute stuff, TESTING, and ughh so much more stuff. I am going to die.

I'm gone all summer too :) I leave a week after school ends and come back just in time for preseason. I have to record a cd in that time too...

Actually my list is like 18-ish... but I'm working on narrowing it down. It's not that bad after a couple visits and lengthy discussions with people who know you really well.

That's another thing I am really worried about- I haven't really visited ANY colleges save a few and I am worried 1) I don't know much about the schools as I should. I mean, I like devour the internet and know all the FACTs and everything that's posted on the websites and what departments/majors so I've done my research and seen what I like...but that's not the same thing, you know? I want to be in a class, walk around the campus- get that feel for it so I can really know if this is a school I would like to go to, if I can see myself in it....2) I don't want colleges that track interest to think that I'm...not interested. Also, I really want good stuff to write about the school- to show that I am genuinely interested( if I am once I visit, etc.)

Is there any way I could do a lot of that from home? Should I take a one week trip off of school and go college visiting?

I'll start essays in summer. I still have to retake SAT/ACT/take SAT2 in June/grab some leadership before I fill out my application lol.

I barely have a "list" of colleges I want to go to... Meanwhile, I've thought of what one of my essays will say, but I haven't actually worked on any of them. Other than that, I've asked my two teachers who will write recommendations for me this fall, so that's a some progress. :)

Do any colleges even have their own apps out yet? If so, which ones??

WUSTL. I believe.

see i dont really care, as long as i get into med school.... i need start practicing neurosurgery as soon as possible, where i get my education is irrelevant, as long as i get one im fine.... its where i do my residency and practice that will get me famous... not the prestige of where i graduated.

so in terms of where im applying to- top 20 schools in USA pretty much... preferably ones with great medical graduate colleges that can have open medical lectures for undergrads (Hence stanford and harvard)

The thought that I'm actually applying to colleges in a few months kinda makes me sick. I need more safeties, but it's always like "Oh I'll figure that out later." But unfortunately, later has become now...

Haha, I created an account for the Common App? I have some ideas for essays, I guess, but I haven't officially started writing. The thought is so scary!

The only essay I really want to write is Stanford's "write a letter to your future roommate" prompt. And I wasn't even going to apply to Stanford! :(

Let's see---

I wrote one unusable essay draft, wrote one essay for a UChicago prompt (can't wait to see this year's, but I'm really considering turning in my essay from last year's prompt. I think it's pretty strong), and I've got my idea for my commonapp essay. I've got some ideas brewing for my why essays for UChicago and Columbia, but I haven't checked on additional essay requirements for my other schools. I haven't even 100% settled on a list! (but I know my ED\EA schools!)

Also, I'm practically done standardized testing. I'm maybe taking the SAT I again, just to try for a 2300, but aside from that, I'm done. I do need to do a lot more visiting, but seeing as each one of my (current) top four schools are in completely different parts of the country, that might be difficult.
