SO... decisions are up...

admissions are kind of unpredictable... i got in last year with a 3.7 W

ACCEPTED!

Cumulative GPA 4.0 and I'm sure the UC calculated one is lower...
SATI: 2100
SAT IIs: 770 and 760

:)

Yes, Berkeley does accept transfer students as double majors....I know many double majors in Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical Engineering.

As for my stats.....I came straight out of CC with a 4.00 GPA...completed all of the required courses, joined many clubs (including United Engineering Society and Muslim Student Association), was an intern for PG&E (emphasis on electrical production)....volunteered at the homeless shelters, 32 ACT (even though they don't consider it as part of their admissions) etc. I also mentioned that I worked at my Uncle's Electronic Shop for 4 years learning and fixing electrical devices (TV, radio, computers etc). IMPORTANT...I wrote about my desire to work in the nuclear energy field and my yearn to learn about electrical production through nuclear reactions (particular nuclear fission/fusion, isomeric transisition, gamma decay etc..) I then described how I wanted to go to grad school (MIT Hopefully) to learn about nuclear weapons and then go back to Pakistan to work for their nuclear programme.

**In regards to the SAT comment that was directed to me, I do think this test is extremely important in consideration of your college application. Otherwise, this wouldn't be part of your application. People wouldn't be spending hundreds on taking SAT classes. If it is merely a 3 hour test....we can say the same to our tests in high school or community college (Finals are only 3 hours long....don't worry about them, they don't prove anything). The main point for the SAT's is to test high school students on a relative scale. Reason for this is because some high schools are more competitive than others. It is easier to get an "A" say at Joe Schmoe High School than to get the same "A" say at De La Salle High School. Get the point??

Lastly, I am still bitter of not getting into UCLA....mainly because I have been reading that students who got into engineering had GPA's averaging at the 3.5 - 3.6 range. Now, this makes me wonder, what practically could these students have that I did not have.....more EC's? better essay?? affordability factors?? a better job than what I had?? I don't know!! Or could I assume that the 0.5 difference in GPA could be accounted by a mere cheap 1000 word college essay. Whatever reasons, I still say that UCLA admission officers are on "crack" for not recognizing applicant credentials. Maybe they realize that most of the upper range applicants are most likely to be enrolled @ CAL!!!

probably THE most embarrassing post of my life b/c of my username of course, but it will be my last ever. I just got rejected. life sucks right now. but rock on everyone that got accepted and i feel for all those who didnt.

you definitely sound bitter, mosharma134 :) but don't look down on essays- not only do they show how well you write but how you think, and perhaps even your personality as well. essays are given quite a bit of weight, and rightly so.

I congratulate you on your ACT's and grades, but they don't give a very complete picture

ACCEPTED!

SAT: 1940
SAT2's: 650,680

With a username like that, I think i<3UCLA should appeal.

You're just trolling, right?

Edit: Wait, you can't even get 1910 on the old SATs... begone from my sight.

hey sublimshed that really sucks. But Berkeley is still a great school!!!

Just trying to lighten up the mood a bit. Hoped many of you would catch my drift if you saw the 1910 on the OLD Sats. Nevertheless, I think everyone who got in definitely deserved to get in, and for those who feel as if they should have been accepted: it can never hurt to appeal. Just remember -- Your education is really what you make of it; it's pointless to base an individual's intellect on his or her school's prestige (or even its ranking on any renown list). :)

Affirmative Action has helped me to get into UCLA with 580 on my Reading SAT!

Affirmative action doesn't exist in California. Asians don't count as underrepresented minorities at the UCs.

affirmative action is illegal in CA.
