SO... decisions are up...

Yah, my friend and I both got in. We had the same act score... 32... and same uc gpa... 4.38... and we both applied to international development... (haha we basically had the same application)... and we were both accepted.

I know that we both want to do international development, but it is also a rather new major so I don't think its that popular. Maybe major really did have a role. I remember last year the valdictorian at my school applied to bio as her major and was rejected. (Later she was accepted by Stanford and ended up going there) So I was warned ahead of time to pick a major that wasn't too impacted. I didn't pick international development because of this (I actually do want to do this major) but I guess I am lucky that my major was not very popular...

yea i dont think majors are really as important of a factor as you say it is.

i applied under a really popular major, and my stats aren't that impressive

Majors definitely matter for acceptance--take undecided L&S vs. engineering, for example--, but I don't think it's usually a good idea to put an easier major down just for admission (especially if you're trying to go into something like engineering)

My college counselor said that, all factors equal, majors WERE a consideration by the UCs. I mean, they have to consider major. Think about it... they can't have an entire class of freshman who all want to major in biology...

Accepted!

AAAAAAAAA

everyone wants to appeal

hahaha

guys be happy you got in :)

Look how many people didn't even get in.

Willl being in honors make that much of a difference?

honors is only for letters and science if you didnt know... so if you applied undeclared or a non L&S major then no honors

I know I'm not necessarily the best candidate in the huge UCLA applicant pool, so I'm simply shocked that I got accepted. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, and for those who didn't: don't worry, and don't give up hope on your other acceptances; I'm sure you'll all end up at equally fine (if not substantially better) schools.
