On the Rice and Northwestern supplements, I answered "No" for the question about whether I have a sibling also applying to the school this year. However, apparently I also answered "No" for the question "If yes, are you twins?" which insinuates that I do have a sibling applying to the school this year, and that we aren't twins. I can't de-select my answer for the question.

No biggie, right?

I’m still pretty sure this isn’t a big deal, but better safe then sorry… bump.

Better safe than sorry is a not necessarily a good mantra, but it fits here, so bump.

Are you an only child? If not, how old are your siblings? I’m thinking that what you put in the Common App section asking for your siblings ages is what they would go by…

Let me preface this by stating that somehow Northwestern’s supplement fixed itself. Rice’s hasn’t though.

I have one sister who is a senior in college this year. I said “no” for the sibling applying to Rice question, but I accidentally clicked “no” for the question about whether we are twins and I can’t de-select it.

In the Common App (not the supplement) you wrote that you have one sister, age 22 (or whatever). Right? So I think Rice will understand that she’s not applying. If you’re really distressed about this I recommend contacting the admissions office and explaining the situation. I’m sure they’ll tell you how to clear it up, or whether it’s significant.

Yeah I figured I would just be advised to contact the office if it made me feel better (that’s the advice I’ve been giving about similar topics). But I guess it helps to be told that. haha :)

Thanks!

Yeah no problem. It’s sort of frustrating to get that advice, however–but I get it a lot on this site! :)

I’m applying to Rice too; good luck!

Oh Hey!

Actually I realized on my Rice supp I had this same problem, so I contacted the Common App Tech support and they fixed it for me!!!

On your Common App, just click “help” at the top of the screen and then “Contact Applicant Support” in the window that pops up. Then tell them you want that unchecked and they’ll do it for you!

Awesome, thanks a million man!

Submitted the ticket, so hopefully they will uncheck the question for me. Really appreciate your help, quomodo!

Yeah np should go through fine! They did mine in like 2 hours. :D

Ughh I did the same thing and it won’t let me uncheck it! Should I just leave it or should I wait for common app support or whatever? I already submitted common app and on the Northwestern admissions website it says they accept supplements 2 weeks after the deadline.

Common App fixed it for me within hours! Just mark that your problem is “critical” (there’s a drop-down box when you ask for help.)
