So you have just finished your first semester in college, was it what you expected? I realized that college is a lot harder than I expected...

All my grades just came in, and I realized I can't be the same person I was in high school (senior year, anyway...heh). My minimal effort --> strong finish study model just doesn't work. At all. College is really hard...

Socially, however, Berkeley is amazing. I love the area, and the people are nothing short of terrific. First semester had its ups and downs, but without those, the rollercoaster ride isn't any fun :P

I think my classes were too easy compared to others. First semester was easier than I thought.

Really really awesome.
Socially... just excellent. I've met so many great people. I was really nervous about making new friends, but it's gone better than I ever could have expected.

Academically - pretty tough. I got kind of a reputation on my floor as a slacker but I did okay. I ended up with an A- in Math 1B which I'm super stoked about (that class was HARD). Got a B+ in CS61A which I thought I could do better in. I think that was because I didn't find the class to be that difficult so I assumed I could keep up. Didn't study and tripped up on the third midterm.
Physics 7A was a cakewalk, didn't really have to worry about that.

All in all, awesome semester. I'm going to work much harder next semester but I'll make sure to keep having fun.

I love Berkeley!

Classes were easier than I expected, but that was because I had very high expectations. Some of my high school habits bogged me down this semester; I'm currently trying to massacre them for next semester. Meanwhile the Berkeley vibe is incredible, dorm life is great, and there are so many things to do that it boggles my mind.

Should be interesting to see how next semester ends up.

I have become completely obsessed with Cal. When I am at home, it is all I ever talk about. I have met amazing people and feel so lucky to have such awesome floormates. Academically, I think I hit a mid-semester slump and was very worried I'd end up with a 3.5 GPA, but somehow managed to end up with a 4.0 after apparently not bombing the math final. Woot! I can't wait to go back.
