So how exactly does this work?

I’m going to be an incoming MT freshman at the new studio next year. I would really like to do a semester in either Paris or Florence, but I don’t know if this is even possible since neither of these locations really have “theater” programs. Would it be possible to just do a lot of gen eds and electives abroad for a semester? Or does the MT curriculum kind of require that you stay in New York for all four years? Thanks so much, any help is really appreciated!

It’s most definitely possible to do study abroad for a semester. None of the studios are for all 8 semesters. A very popular time to go is fall of junior year. Then you have 2 solid years in studio, take a break for an academic semester (in NY or study abroad), then come back to studio for spring semester of junior year, when you can also audition for summer work. Fairly common.

Tisch also sponsors some pretty amazing looking study abroad programs during the summer that are related to theater and other arts.
