And should you mention them (that is, the extended essays) for your essay on Q1?

That was the original reason for my attraction to the University, but I am not sure if it would already be a frequently cited / undistinctive reason and whether I should cite something else.

If that really was a reason why you were attracted to the University, you should say so. Maybe you could come up with some interesting way to phrase it that fits your personality. I think they're not necessarily looking for incredibly creative answers; just be honest. They want to know why you are applying.

I mentioned it in the "how I heard about Chicago" question.

I totally applied almost just for the essays: wrote #4 over the past 2.5 hours and had a blast with it. I actually want to go into engineering, but if the only schools that accept me are UT and UC, **** it, I'm going to UC for biology and physics.

I definitely started looking into UChicago because of the essay questions (EAer here) - kinda stumbled on the essay descriptions, started geeking out ("I love the way they think!) :-P and then explored every inch of the website . . . and i was hooked. Didn't mention it in my essay, though that sounds like a good idea.

The essay about the brunch with literary figures last year was what attracted me to the school. I thought any school with an essay topic like that was perfect for me, lol.

Yeah, I also mentioned it in the "how you heard about UChicago" area. Complete and utter random luck. Was browsing the CC forums and found a thread about memorable essay prompts people had had... and now I'm in Chicago EA. :)

I definitely first became interested in them because of the essay questions, but visiting the campus/having an interview definitely made me fall in love. I did talk about how excited I was when I discovered the Uncommon Application in my "How you heard about Chicago" essay too. I've been pretty obsessed ever since.
