UCSC's conditions:

Your admission to UC Santa Cruz for the fall quarter 2007 is provisional subject to the conditions listed below. It is important that you read these carefully because your admission will be withdrawn if you do not fulfill these conditions.

Once you have reviewed your conditions, you must click the "I Agree" button on the bottom of the page to continue accepting your offer of admission.

Complete the course work you reported as "in-progress" or "planned" with minimum grades of C (2.0). Notify our office, either by e-mail or by letter, of any changes to your program of study, including attendance at an institution different from that listed on your application, as these changes may affect your admission.

Maintain "good standing" at your last school. A student is in "good standing" if the grade point average is at least 2.0 and the official transcript does not indicate dismissal, probation, or other restrictions. A student who has outstanding financial obligations to another institution is not considered to be in "good standing."

Have all official transcripts, including final high school transcript, sent to our office by July 15, 2007. An official transcript is one that we receive in the institution's sealed envelope with appropriate identifying information and authorizing signature. Advanced Placement (AP) examination results should be sent directly to our office from the AP Program of the College Board. International Baccalaureate (IB) examination results should be sent directly to our office from the International Baccalaureate Organization.

I think that's about it. From what I've heard, 1 C shouldn't kill you, but you don't really want that. I'm going for all A's and 1 A- this semester, which shouldn't be too hard, but I wouldn't let that drop to A-'s (basically I want to keep my freshmen GPA at around a 3.7-3.8, it's a 4.0 right now) ...

so I'd say 1 C is okay, 2 C is pushing it. Anything lower is probably... errr

and I think it also might depend on where you got into

Cvjn is right, though it depends on the strength of the cousework. Unless the slide is drastic, UCSC will probabilly accept you. Not sure about a tougher school like UCLA or UCB.
