So, I applied hoping that all schools but one would reject me...haha and now...

Okay.
So heres the dealio-dizzle.
I literally applied to a bunch of random colleges that appealed to me through extensive research online/facebook/stories of friends. I didn't visit ANY OF THE SCHOOLS, hoping that, by getting accepted to one (maybe two!) I could somehow narrow it down.

Since all those silly down payments are due in May, and since I'm going to London for April Spring Break, I have no time to figure out where I want to go or why I should go somewhere or what.
So... keeping that in mind. Please help me make the decision based off financial location/hotness of the school/your personal opinion. THANK YOU. =]

1) University at Albany.
Out-of-Pocket costs: $1 a year.
Total Financial Aid Offered: $18,649
Yo: The one school i visited. Did not get all glass-eyed and fall in love with the school while light orchestral love-music was playing in the background.

2) Syracuse.
Out-of-Pocket costs: $5,000
Total Financial Aid Offered: $40,000
Yo: I heard its a nice school. But, dude, when I visited it for a Model United Nations trip, a bum chased me around with a can asking for money.

3) University of Maryland- College Park
Out-of-Pocket costs: $25,000
Total Financial Aid Offered: $11,100
Yo: They, uh, didn't really offer me alot. Wassup with that!?

4) University of Delaware- Newark
Out-of-Pocket costs: $12,000
Total Financial Aid Offered: $18,000
Yo: For some reason, I think I may like this school. Good study abroad. But again, I have no clue really.

5) Boston College
I don't know anything about financial aid yet, but shall, hopefully soon.

PLEASE HELP ME.

Note: Please forgive me of my sarcasm. I'm just frustrated/funny.

Is the "Financial Aid Offered" really aid as in grants and scholarships or just loans?

So you're going to turn town $160,000 because a bum asked you for some money? You may want to re-think that. Are there no bums in Newark, DE, Albany NY, Boston MA, or College Park MD? Doubt it.

hm, so are they going to really make you pay that $1 a year?

I'd take UMD right out of the equation. Syracuse and UDel are the most attractive offers out of that pack.

Hahahahahahaahah yeah, good point tsdad haha

Yeah, as for the Financial Aid Offered, it does include the silly loan thingys. Overall, this is merit scholarships/ grants for me:

Delaware: $12,000 merit
Syracuse: $12,000 merit, $ 22,500 grant
Maryland: Some puny $2000 presidential scholarship
Albany: $3,500 scholarship $3,500 NYS tuition aid thingy

OH haha, i forgot to mention.
i'm in that honors program at delaware, maryland, and uh, albany. yes.

"So you're going to turn town $160,000 because a bum asked you for some money? You may want to re-think that. Are there no bums in Newark, DE, Albany NY, Boston MA, or College Park MD? Doubt it."

Nowhere did she ever state that she'll turn the school because of this reason.

But NYLadii, I also got into Syracuse (CAS) and I might seem bias because I am attending but I honestly think Syracuse is a great school and you are bound to thrive there. If you great a good AID package from Boston College you might find it hard to choose between those two schools (if you narrowed it down to them). Boston college is also a great school to attend.

PS. Have fun in London

I'd choose Syracuse then and go enjoy your Spring Break in London...wow, be in for a price shock!

I would choose syracuse too..

with your financial aid offers right now i would put it between syracuse and delaware. even then albany is much cheaper, those two schools are in a different "league" in my opinion. and i also like maryland better than delaware for some silly reasons such as sports and frosh dorms but the finaid offered by umd knocks it out of the picture.

depending on your familys financial situation, you can either get a really good or really bad offer to BC. if you are run of the mill middle class, youre not gonna get much and if you are slightly midde-upper class or above you get NOTHING. my family got $4,000 per year in loans there but i still picked it over delaware ($16,000/year for academics, no honors prog) because my family luckily can afford it and the $40,000 in loans i will owe my parents after grad still made it worth it for my to come to BC.

most people i know who go to delaware absolutely love it, its a good school with a lot to do. i would pick it over syracuse just because of the weather and distance from (my own) home. im not sure what you are going into, but delaware business school is great and i think it as a whole is a little more "pretigious" than 'cuse (judgiing from what ive heard and the caliber of peopel from my HS who went there). taht said, if you get a comprable finaid offer to BC i would definetly choose it because in my (biased opinion) it really is in a different range than all of the other schools, the opprotunities, people, and campus life are amazing, and i love it here.

Thanks beanieboo: that really helps.

It's so frustrating that I only have a few weeks to decide... it's really starting to freak me out, no lie. I should've went in with a "top choice" but YEAH didn't happen. hahaha

I think so far I'm def. ruling out Maryland and SUNY Albany. Just cause of the aforementioned. But... as for my MAJOR considerations:

Art History
Film Studies
Drama
French

Haha, that might help too! Heck, I dunoo. I'm only eighteen.
