So I ended up writing two main essays...help!

Okay - here's the dilemma: I wrote two main essays (no, not because I'm a super-insecure freak), and they are both good. Really good. However, they are really Okay - here's the dilemma: I wrote two main essays (no, not because I'm a super-insecure freak), and they are both good. Really good. However, they are really dissimilar. Both are based on my own prompts. Both prompts are different. I don't want to give to much away, (I'm pretty sure you're not literary kleptomaniacs, but I'm still a little paranoid), but I'll say this. One is about living rooms, and the other is about jelly. Yeah, that's right. The one about living rooms is directly more personal and focuses on one of my interests. The other is a dialogue that doesn't speak directly of me, but I have infused my beliefs and quirks in it. It's also riskier. People have read both of them and have been giving me mixed feedback on which to send. The first conveys me well, but it may be more narrowly focused. The other is extremely witty, and people actually laugh aloud when they read it. Which do you think I should submit? Thanks.

Impossible to tell without reading them, honestly. You can judge your own writing and yourself better than we can.

eenie meanie..............

Actually, here's my idea: You made up your own questions, right? So 'your own question' could be: "Just when you thought UChicago essays couldn't get any more weird, respond to these TWO insane prompts." Or something like "Pick two topics that have ABSOLUTELY nothing in common and comment on them" or something like that. Lame I know, but hey if they are both good...

Oh and I hate you b/c I don't even like my lowly one main essay. lol

Think of it in the context of an overworked admissions counselors who is reading hundreds of essays. Which one will stand out, brighten the day of the reader, and convey your ability to handle ideas?

That's actually kind of a hard question, idad... I guess it's nice to brighten someone's day but would an essay like that make your ability to think as evident?

Eeee I pretty much have the same dilemma as the OP... and two weeks to go...
