@“aunt bea” you can my homeschool allow the student to do it
You are not taking any English courses? What homeschool program is this? What courses are you taking, then? Why did you leave your previous school?
HSLDA why i left my previous school because they closed down because none of the student was not learning @elliebham
HSLDA is an advocacy organization, not a formal homeschool program. Do you take actual courses? Would you be able to enroll in the public high school you are zoned for?
@elliebham HSLDA is a homeschool to because they told my mom when she enroll me for it and i dont know if i ca enroll for a public high school it is up to my mom
HSLDA is a curriculum provider that started as a (Christian based) advocacy group. They may not require you to take English, but they don’t make homeschool laws. State legislatures do.
What state are you in? Your state may require a specific list of courses to get a high school diploma. Colleges have specific requirements too, and if you don’t meet them you won’t get in.
@austinmshauri i live in United States of America
No, what specific state do you live in? Florida, New York, California??
@Gumbymom Pennsylvania
@Aunt Bea, perhaps you could translate this so Michael understands it:
@MichaelRobinson, I have been a homeschooler for 20 years and have counseled a lot of families. It is very important that your family follows your state regulations. [PA Act 169](http://www.nasd.k12.pa.us/cms/lib6/PA01001836/Centricity/Domain/114/Homeschool%20packet.pdf) covers homeschool requirements for Pennsylvania.
Your parents are supposed to file an affidavit with your district swearing that they’re covering those courses. Without the proper paperwork, you won’t be able to get credit for completion of high school. You could take the TASC general education exam, but would likely have to start at community college. But that’s the least of your worries.
The courses outlined above are not optional. HSLDA has no authority over what classes Pennsylvania homeschoolers have to take. If your family isn’t reporting to their district superintendent and teaching the required courses, they’re in violation of Pennsylvania homeschool laws. If they’re not filing yearly portfolios showing you’re completing those courses satisfactorily, they’re in violation. Your school district can hold a hearing and if your family is shown to be in noncompliance, they could lose the right to homeschool for a year and be required to enroll you in public school.
Is your mom a member of any homeschool groups (not HSLDA)? She needs local homeschoolers to help guide her. Sometimes, homeschooling is not the best option. If your patents can’t speak English well enough to teach you, they need to enroll you in an English as a Second Language course at a local community college or enroll you in the [public high school](http://www.raiderweb.org/our-schools/). Middletown does have one.
College classes are taught in English and it’s the language that most people in the US speak. If you can’t communicate well in both spoken and written English, it will be difficult for you to be competitive for college admissions or in the job market.
@MichaelRobinson I second elliebham’s post. Take an ESL course.
@austinmshauri offers a lot of excellent info. Homeschoolers are still required to follow state-imposed graduation laws, from curriculum to standardized tests.
Lastly, please use punctuation in your posts. Spanish obviously uses punctuation, and the rules are very similar to those in English (except the upside-down marks and a few minor differences). Without using the proper punctuation marks, it becomes very difficult to determine what you’re saying. It’s also a fairly basic set of rules in written English.
thank you @austinmshauri
ok @MITer94
You’re welcome, Michael.
There’s a homeschool group based in [Lebanon County](http://inchoflebanoncounty.blogspot.com/) that seems like it may be a good fit for your family. They’re eclectic and multicultural. Try this [site for a link to a homeschool group. This group is in York County. The Lancaster area](Secular Homeschooling | Homeschool .com) has many groups that may be helpful. Please encourage your parents to follow up with some of them for guidance.
Good luck.
@austinmshauri thank you

OKAY people, this was a translation request from @Austinmshauri::D/
Este mensaje originó de @Austinmshauri: Para tu familia
I just translated @austinmshauri’s information, which is critical to the OP’s knowledge, and I didn’t mean to conflict with the rules of CC.
Thank you, @aunt bea.
